I have a 1996 ford e150 new alternator good battery but won't charge was charging but quit is there a fuse or relay

There are a couple of fusible links and a regulator fuse . G 60amp located in the underhood fuse box. Is the charge indicator lit on the instrument cluster ? The fusible links connect at the starter relay on righ inner fender . Do you know what a fusible link is and what it looks like ? New alternator ? aftermarket or ford replacement ? Check for B+ voltage at wires on the alternator , to see which have B+ voltage look at wiring diagram at http://www.bbbind.com/free_tsb.html Enter vehicle info. yr . make , model , engine etc... System click engine , then charging system under subsystem . Click search . then click blue link .

Briefly installed battery backwards. 2000 Ford Ranger. New Battery, new alternator, but alternator not charging battery. Truck starts on battery-new starter motor. Lights work, all electrical works

Is this the alternator that was in the vehicle when you hooked the battery up wrong? If so, you probably blew out the voltage regulator in the alternator.

I had to replace my alt.on my 93 ford festiva abd when i hit the wire to the frame it sparked so I disconnected the battery cable, but when I hooked the cable back up the fusible link cought fire, I blew...

Pull the remnants of the fusible link out with a small pair of pliers. The ends are a standard blade type plug. Replace the link with a 40 amp cartridge type fuse. The "long leg" type is plug and play. You probably just stressed the fusible link meaning it did its job. My bet is that you pop in the cartridge fuse and you will be good to go. I run these in all of my festivas. So do hundreds of people on fordfestiva.com. It is THE place for all things festiva. There are thousands of knowledgable helpful members there. 99 dodge ram will not charge battery new battery they say my alternater is good alternater fuse is good

When you say the fuse is good, do you mean the fusible link. 140 Amp? See diagram below. The link is the only thing that can prevent the battery from charging. Check the voltage at the battery with the engine running. It should be at least 14 volts if the alternator and circuit are good.

Battery was stolen 1993 ford festiva replaced it

hi,the computer has to relearn the idle, you need to raise the engine speed off idle not rev it and hold the speed there for about 4 or 5 minutes.then take it for a drive and things should be good to go.

Fusible link in 1993 festiva

Had a customers car do this and tested the daylights out of everything to no avail..."non-factory" solution was to replace link with a 30 amp breaker...when problem happened breaker would open, then close several minutes later, returning to normal operation. Can't hurt to try it!!!

never change a link or fuse with a larger one. It is there to protect the remainder of the system. You need to find out what is wrong and fis that probem.

Fusible link in 1993 festiva

this is not a battery problem there is a short in the system. a low battery will never blow a fuse because in order to blow a fuse you have to excede the amprage rating and a short will do this look for a loose wire on the headlight harness or a bad connector........please rate this
