Help I have a fuel leak, It is higher than I can reach, so I guess it is up near the fuel pump. Is there any way to get to the fuel pump area without dropping the rear axles?

Finding fuel leak options with very little fuel in tank, leaks with addition of $5 worth of fuel?

Surely you can see the fuel on the outside of the
fuel tank or a rusted fuel tube under it

You should be able to find that issue in 10 minutes
IF you get under it

That is only 2 gallons added at a time

Wouldn't you think the fuel tank is the issue,if
it leaks without the motor running

Now you also know we can not guess from here

Long rectangle device near fuel pump leaks fuel on a 1989 volkswagon cabroilet

I need more information to be of help. Is this device metal or plastic? What is the length? Does it have any lines connected to it? If it does have lines connected to it, is it leaking from the line area or another area? Is the device about the length of the fuel pump? This vehicle has a fuel pressure accumulator near the fuel pump, dark olive in color, metal with 2 screw on fuel lines on the same end and a small screw on the opposite end from the fuel lines. The fuel pressure accumulators do leak fuel when the diaphragm inside ruptures.

My 1991 Camaro rs 3.1 runs rough in gear but not at idle, and fuel pump runs the same without a fuel pump relay, I have 10-12 lbs of fuel pressure at intake-whether engine running at idle or just key on....

How did you measure the fuel pressure, and what is the factory specification for fuel pressure? You are correct, it should NOT run without a fuel pump relay. The fuel pump relay performs safety functions, such as shutting of the fuel pump in an accident that deploys an air bag.

My guess would be a valve timing problem. But I don't work on Chevrolet products, so I'm not sure if you have a timing chain or a timing belt. Do you have a distributor, or a coil pack in the vehicle? If a distributor, is the ignition timing correct? Watch out for vacuum leaks! And check to see that the PCV valve is closing, or you will lose lots of vacuum, making the engine run rough and nearly powerless at low speed.

Make sure you don't have any vacuum leaks. A hissing noise is a good indication of one, plus higher engine running rpms at idle. P0171 means that the fuel system bank 1 is too lean. Further diagnosis should be done before condeming a fuel pump. A $5 can of brake parts cleaner from the autoparts store sprayed on a running engine to find possible vacuum leaks. Obvious leaks will make the engine run funny when the brake clean is sucked into affected areas such as bad intake gaskets or split vacuum hoses. Other things besides a fuel pump can cause this, such as ...
  • Air leaks after the MAF sensor, or leaks in the PCV system, or vacuum leaks
  • Exhaust leaks before or near where the HO2S(Oxygen Sensor) is mounted
  • Fuel injector(s) restricted or not supplying enough fuel
  • Fuel pump not supplying enough fuel during high fuel demand conditions
  • Leaking EGR gasket, or leaking EGR valve diaphragm
  • MAF sensor dirty (causes PCM to underestimate airflow)

Where can I locate the fuel filter on a 2002 evony

I believe the fule filter is underneath the vehicle just on the inside of the metal structure rail. Hmmm. I guess I should say that if you opened the front door and reached down under the rocker panel you should be able to touch it. This description is just to give the general area, please do a visual to locate the fuel filter in this area.

good luck

Fuel leak spraying on fan

Ah yes, 83 F-250, you're tasking my memory. That truck has a mechanical fuel, located in the left (drivers side) front of the engine it could be the pump itself. There is a vent hole in the pump that gas will sqiurt out of if the diaphram inside the pump fails. I guess what I would do is remove the fan belt(s) so you don't have to worry about the fan or anything in that area turning. You can run the engine for a 2-3 minutes with the belts off it won't hurt anything. Without the fan blowing you should be able to see where the gas is coming from. Be carefull not to have a hot trouble light in the area, if cold gas hits the hot light bulb it's instant FIRE!

Unless this problem has been slowly creeping up on you, I'm going to say you need to look at the fuel pump too.

Under vehicle, driver side, below seating area, near fuel tank, mounted on frame rail in fuel line

Change the fuel filter. If pump is new, and you are not leaking gas from lines, than either the filter is clogged, injector stuck open
