Re: 2003 ES LEXUS
It is very difficult to "reset" the check engine light. There is a memory for the codes, and if you COULD reset it, the light will simply just come right back on if you have a bad sensor or something like that. Get it scanned & report the code back to me.

Are you saying the engine cranks but won't start, or the engine won't crank ? If the engine does not crank, you would check for voltage at the starter, the neutral safety switch, and the key switch as well as the ground connections.
The way to stop the check engine light is to pull the error code(s) from the computer and resolve what is indicated. REMEMBER the code is a CLUE and not necessarily the issue, for example, an intake leak can cause a oxygen sensor to register out of range.... The light would reset automatically, in absence of errors.
Did you check that your compressor has gas? ( special refregiration gas for tht purpose).
also it can be that one of the vents is not working. you know when you put hot on the main board in the car, the vents inside the car change of possition to take vantage of the eat of the engine to heat the interior of the car.
WHITE SMOKE INDICATE SLIGHT HEAD GASKET.STOP SMOKING WHEN ENGINE GET HOT.HEAD EXPANDS ENOUGH TO STOP THE LEAK.BUT I SEEN CASES WHERE THE HEADS HAD TO BE PRE TORQUE AFTER ENGINE OVERHAUL.ALSO YOUR ENGINE WILL USE OIL UNTIL PISTON RINGS SEAT.SO KEEP EYE ON OIL LEVEL.
DO NOT TRY TO REPAIR/REPLACE module yourself unless you have the diagnostic computer to be able to set/reset functions, keys etc.....the check engine light can be reset by a dealer.remember diahatsu is owned by toyota/lexus could work out cheaper calling to see if they are willing to reset
