Question about 2004 Volkswagen New Beetle Convertible
My brake light is out on the drivers side...how do i get to the bulb to replace it
If you need to replace your tail light bulb, first remove the cover(its round) from the inside of your trunk, there will be a black knob that needs to be unscrewewed totally to release the back light casing. Next, along the rear fenders where the lights are, there are two gaps. The insde gap( nearest hatch back door) is a release tab/clip on the light inside between the gaps. Insert a butter knife or something slim and pull out casing(don't be afraid, and it takes a little force to pull out). After you pull out casing, you'll find to light swithces(one is for the turn signals and other is your break lights). Turn the light switch counter clockwise(assuming it's hanging upside down)and remove. Switch out light bulb with new one(autozone has them for about $4.00 - package of 2)replace every thing back as you uninstalled it. Its recommended to replace all bulbs, that way it you don't have to do it again later when they go out. It'll save you lots of time and money. Hope this will help anyone so print and save in your manual for later use.

If the other side is working, then it will not be a fuse problem. more then likely it is a grounding problem or there is a short in the wire. Take a test light and check and see if you are getting a hot wire to the brake light. If it is hot then it is a grounding problem. Make sure that the bulb is in the right way and look for any corrosion where the bulb goes and clean it out.

Check the prones inside the connector that you plug into the brake light module. You may have to squeeze, wiggle, tilt each one to see which one is not connecting all that good. I know it may sound confusing. I tried to explain the best of I could.

I have a 2001 Sienna and have had to replace most of my tail light bulbs.
The bulbs that are mounted in the fender (wrap arounds) have acess panels in the van's interior that easily pop out and expose the back of the light assembly.
However, the bulbs that are found in the lift gate are a different matter. You have to remove the whole interior panel to the lift gate to expose the light assemblies. Go to your auto parts store and get a tool to help pop out the plastic retainers from the lift gates metal frame. Don't force the retainers out. Go slowly and gently so that you don't damage the interior panel. If you are really gentle you might even get to reuse the retainers.

This is fairly easy, just open the trunk of the car go to the side you need to change, pull away the covering, there maybe plastic pins so use a flat point screw driver to remove gentle, you will see the wires and plastic bracket around it,twist the entire bracket anti-clockwise and you should be able to pull the bracket out with the bulbs inserted.gentle pull the bulb out and replace as needed

This is for Nissan Sentra Models 2007-2010.
1. Open the trunk and remove trunk liner by first removing popcap black button which fastens the liner. Then pull away liner from metal.
2. Notice two white protective plastic spikes covering 2 screw threads with 2 small bolts. Remove white protective spikes manually or by prying them off of their screws and proceed to remove bolts.
4. Pry away entire brake lamp housing from the exterior of the car in swinging door motion towards the sidepanels of the car. Dont pull too hard or let it hang as this may damage wiring - support lamp housing in place.
5. Replace lamp by manually pulling it's housing out of the lamp and then pulling the bulb itself out of socket and inserting new one.
