I have a 1997 lexus es 300 i need to replace the power steering hose its leaking under driver side i cant find any videos to help no good info all i keep hearing is take it to a shop some ppl dont gave...

first were is the leak is it at the joint or the hose ? joint you need a new hose and clamping kit. costly. hose split cut out the bad part and fix with a new part of pipe. and copper tubing and pipe clamps.... you can make a clamp if you need to put a new pipe on. you need two bits off metal with a hole in the middle of both of them so it looks like a half moon on each of them that sit the same. put the new pipe on in place put the bits off metal around the new pip on the metal and using 2 jubilees to hold in place then tighten them up tight this will clamp the metal on the pipe. when nice and tight it will be done. the pipe will turn round this is normal. if its a small leak you can use stop leak you put this in the system its thicker power steering fluid don't get the engine one it will not work. has to be for the power steering. just fill the system with this stuff. look on line and you will find the stuff have used this on a few cars as its a cheap fix and lasts for a long time. never had to use it my self but done a lot to other vehicles were they don't have the money to replace pipes. 5 year and still going. well there is all that i can hepl you with hope this helps.

There is a leak of power steering fluid from the boot on the steering rack, believe the boot has a rubber clip that the pipe feeds into thats now missing, can it be repaired without replacing the whole...

Heres the problem the boot is to protect the shaft from dirt, the pipe is to bleed air out, if theres power steering fluid leaking out then the steering rack is bad and needs replacing. the seal on the side of the leak is bad and replacing is the result, by replacing the boot or reclamping it is only going to hold all the leaking oil inside and you will see you will be added power steering fluid. good luck. hope this is helpful.

We had a small leak about the size of a quarter over a 12 hr. period, it was power steering fluid, we took our 2002 Jeep Grand cherokee to a Jeep dealer. They said it was the power steering pump, they...

yes,, i would if i were you,,,if they fitted a new after market pump and it was noisy why? the pump must be faulty,,,,
as for the under rad pipe,,,these things happen,, the pipe gets rusty and seized up,,its hard to say if he riped you off on this part,, but if they got oil on the drive belt,,,thats just bad work,,the belt come off first,,so how did oil get onto it????
slopy work thats all that is,,,oil on the brive belt dont cause a whine,,,it will shorten the life of the belt,,,my gess is the belt was done up far to tight,,causing this whine from the pump,,it could also have caused the pump to "burn out!" the oil seal causing it to leak oil again,,,,find i very big guy,,,give him a good drink to stand by your side,,, and tell the repair shop you wont pay there bill,, if they dont like that,,,talk to the dig guy! and um??? which hospital did he wont to go to?

Power steering presure leak hose

temporary solution is to fine the leaking spot (if it's a very small leaking hole in the hose ) and screw in a right size screw and wrap it up tightly with tape. this way you'll loose less power steering fluid. and off course you know the better solution is to change the pipe.

On a 1994 olds cutlass supreme SL can i put a regular rubber hose over a leak on the power steerings high pressure hose to buy myself time before i can afford to replace it? i plan on hose clamping it...

If it is a small leak you might be able to wrap it with a rubber hose and apply several clamps to put a band-aid on it. However, this is only temporary at best and could still cause problems depending on where it is leaking. One possible alternative to a new hose - if you take the hose to a shop like The Hoseman (or equivalent) they can rebuild the hose cheaper than buying a new one.

Why the power steering is hard for rx7

Hi I am vortash .. if the steering is hard it sounds as if you either have a fluid leak ( or it just requires topping up ) or the power steering rack or pump are faulty... check if there are obvious signs of fluid loss around the rack or the pump .. check the hydraulic pipes to the power steering are not damaged , you may need to bleed the system if you have let the fluid go too low .. and this may be better done by a garage as they have the correct equipment to do it safely ... hope this is of help regards Vortash

My 2002 Santa Fe v6 has developed a power steering leak at the point that all the oil from the reservoir dried out and every day must filled up with new fluid. What should I do?

Bring it to the garage ASAP to prevent damage to the system.
because then it becomes very expensive
let them repair the leak.

Oil leak across front of car under front motor?

You really need to have a good look under it around the Exhaust pipe run. Usually this means putting it up on ramps.

I think for ease of diagnosis - go to a small garage and ask them for a quote for repair. Once it's on the ramps - have a look yourself.
If you think their quote is too high - get a second opinion, or if you are competent enough - do the work yourself. At least you will hopefully find the problem for free.

It can be as easy as a leak around a screw-on oil filter, or as complicated as a failed main crank seal - which often requires engine removal and splitting the gearbox off it.
Best to get a free quote anyway.
