Question about 1994 Dodge Intrepid
I had my fuel filter changed 3 weeks ago because my car would only start for a couple seconds and then die. After the filter was changed then car worked fine for the next 3 weeks except for one time it didnt start right away. It took 5 times to start it. It started but then dies right away again. Then a week from that the same thing happened, only this time the car wouldnt start at all. I had it towed and the mechanic said that when he got it to the shop it started and the next morning it started, also. He said it would be his best judgement that it would be the fuel pump, but that didnt sound to convincing sincve he wasnt for sure. I am in school and have no job and it is kind of expensive I dont need to spend money on something that might be wrong.. What do you think is wrong with it??
There could be several reasons for this problem first it could be a weak fuel pump, but i doubt it. my suggestion is that one of the following is the cause. either you have a weak fuel pump relay, which is what activates the fuel system initially. It could be that you have a loose positve cable to the battery or a loose ground cable. or it could be that you have a faulty TPS sensor. this is responsible for telling the ecm(your main computer) how to adjust the fuel / air mixture. this is located on the throttle body is black in color and held by (2) bolts. one last cause could be that your fuel pressure regulater is faulty. this is located on the fuel rail that attches to the intake manifold and to your injectors. without being able to look at the vehicle myself, you should take it to a small shop that doesn't charge the kind of labor rates that a dealership charges. hope this gives you the options that will allow you to make an informed decision..please rate this .............thanks
