1998 wrangler efi system

I HAVE A 4.0 LITER WITH THE EFI SYSTEM ON IT AND THE PROBLEM IS ON A COLD START IT JUST WANTS TO CRANK AND CRANK LIKE ITS NOT GETTING GAS. HOWEVER IF I CRANK IT FOR A FEW SECONDS AND THEN BACK OF AND CRANK IT AGAIN IT WILL USUALLY START RIGHT AWAY. MY QUESTION IS DOES THIS SYSTEM NEED TO BE PRESSURIZED AND IF SO HOW DO I DO IT?

FUEL PUMP WILL PUT PRESSURE IN FUEL RAIL FOR YOU. sounds like fuel pressure in the fuel rail is losing pressure usally caused from fuel pump starting to go out. check pressure with fuel gauge. screw it onto the fuel rail connection turn the key forward (do not start ) then turn key off presure should hold around 16 psi. if the gauge starts to drift back down then the fuel pump is going to go out ( sometime)

On my 1993 wrangler with a 2 5 if i try to start it it only fires on cylinder 1 and 3 if i shut it off and try again it fires only on 2 and 4 what would cause this

Sounds like a spark plug or distributor problem.... Change out all your spark plugs and check your wires for breaks. Check fuel injectors for build-up.

Where do u hook up to Diagnostic

you dont
the French Renix system (EFI) has not, its a SLICK EFI.
(smart as a brick)

google REnix EFI and see.

Slick as in No smarts.
its just a raw EFI controller, inputs and outputs
unless you want to buy a used jeep drb scanner that does this, $$$$$ and rare.

Hot wire 2006 honda metropolitan

ask a thief.? LOL !
hot wire EFI system or just the starter.
starter.
the starter solenoid has 3 terminals.
2 big, and 1 dinky.
jumper dinky to the outboard big one.
out board goes to battery plus.
it will crank but not start, because EFI is dead.

Jeep block casting code 53008403

what are you doing> , buying a bare block?

why not say what is in hand. (fit what? just tranny and mounts or what? , be legal or make EFI happy, or ? all other parts on engine?)

i did a www scan and in 1 second, bam the 4 banger

not the 4 liter.

2.5L gas engine not the diesel of same size.

so...

1984 to 2002 run (all year run lenght) not an answer.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AMC_straight-4_engine

what does FIT mean.

to the mounts, the transmission, all will

pass smog

be legal, say in CALIF? (strict year codes there.... btw)

make EFI happy (fit)

just the block, short block or just a naked block. you never said./

key fact on bell housing

Instead of the standard AMC bell housing bolt pattern, AMC/Jeep engineers adopted the General Motors small V6 and four-cylinder bolt pattern

short answer, all years fit, the short block.

In 1986 the head went under a minor revision, the head bolts were increased from 7/16 to 1/2 inch.

id bet that be lowest year.

http://www.allpar.com/mopar/amc-25.html

any with 1/2"head bolts

here is a nice page. google hits are free. huh?

http://engineguy.com/jeep-dodge-chrysler/2-5l-1.html?dir=desc&order=name

crank snout?

oil bypass

head bolt sizes

for sure the best answers are at all the top engine builders pages.

never on ebay. avoid them for facts.

you need a 530 block.

shop for that.

stalls , moving, only. at stop lights or between gears.
but never just parked idling.
if its random , that would be the EGR valve sticking open.
if EFI , bad idle switch.
if Carb bad dash pot. on carb.

My 1994 samurai idles really high when I first crank it, but later slow down. is there anyting I can do to ?

From a cold start my sami idles really fast, but as I drive it and the engine warms up it will idle correctly. Is there a way to make it idle slower from a cold start?
what engine ? 1.3 L
carb or EFI? (94 was first year of efi, and many have been converted this old)
but the answer is the same , that is normal.
on car its a fast ilde cam on the carb.
in EFI its on the software and in the IAC thermal valve.

EFI fuse keeps blowing in 1998 Camry

There is only ONE reson why a fuse blows: Something is overloading the circuit and drawing more amperage than the fuse is designed to handle. This is what is known as an "overload" or a "short circuit".

Plesase read the following two articles:
Where's the fuse?
What else could be wrong?

If after reading these two articles, you think you would like to try your hand at tracking this down and fixing it yourself, and you are sure you have the correct equipment (as listed in the articles), let me know and I will help walk you through it.

Suddenly refuses to start, first time since i got it,plenty of fuel, good spark from plugs, fuses all ok,turns over perfectly but wont fire

Crank it long lets say 10 seconds remove one plug if is dry, no fuel! now inspect EFI fuse OK, then SWAP EFI relay for other that look the same like horn relay, unable to do that let somebody else crank the vehicle and put you finger on the relay clicks EFI system ok.

Spark plug dry (continue) while somebody cranck the car put a long screw driver in the injectors and the other end close to your ear, did you listen the ticki noise from the injectors No? probably no crank sensor signal.

Spark plug is wet, but the spark wont ignite that fuel. bad fuel ! or bad timing.

All this easy test are done asuming you dont have profecional tool like stetoscope, scanner, etc
