What is a DISCO? The trans is under the center hump behind the engine, only drain and refill as required by the owners manual stated service mileage, otherwise you are just wasting your hard earned cash on un-needed service.

It's the big thing, underneath the cabin. If it's an auto, drain, refill to overflow, start run through D-3-2-1-2-3-D a few times, check level and top back up. You can then take it for a quick run and do another drain and replace to hopefully replace 70-80% of the oil due to what is in the torque converter and cooler system. Don't forget to check the transfer box at the rear of the gearbox, and the differentials also. Correct oil in each is essential.

Where are the transmission filter located and how te replace it

Not all transmission have a replaceable filter. If it does then you have to drain the fluid (usually there is no drain plug so you have to partially lower the pan) once the fluid is out you remove the pan. Filters are either press fit or have 1 or 2 bolts holding them in. Replace filter, put new gasket on pan if necessary (make sure to completely remove old gasket) refill Trans with the correct fluid. And check fluid level following manufacturers recommended procedure.

Transmission fluid automatic

there should be a drain plug located on the bottom of your transmission you need to remove the plug make sure to have a container directly under it so it does not spill on the ground when its done draining put the plug back in and refill to the proper level specified in your owners manual ( note the plug will be a bolt you just unscrew it with a socket and ratchet set)

Transmission

Hi there, firts you must locate yourself under the vehicle, after that, search for the transmission fluid pan, there you will see two plugs (screws). The one on the bottom its the drain plug, the other its the overfill screw. If you need more information, just send an e-mail (iorek_13@hotmail.com) I had a complete repair manual.

My 2007 G6 with a V6 engine doesn't have a dipstick to check the transmission fluid. Is this normal?

its a sealed transmission. it has a cap that screws on the transmission to add but you cant check the level. the only way is to put it on a level lift and under the transmission there are two small plugs that unscrew (metal bolts) may be allen head, cant remember exactly right now its been a while, one to drain and other about 2 or 3 inches higher that you remove and fill with fluid trough plastic cap i mentioned before till it starts draining trough the bolt hole. then you know it is level. tighen all screws and ports backup and your done.crzejkr_2.png

just add half qts by half qts till fluid drains from level plug. REMEMBER ENGINE MUST BE HOT AND RUNNING ON.
IF YOUR DRAINING CHANGING FILTER AND REFILING FROM NOTHING WARM ENGINE UP ON OLD FLUID THEN START PROCEDURE.

Automatic trans shudder on take off on a 2000 Honda Civic

The first check is your transmission fluid- The dipstick is located (or should be) just behind your motor. Refill it through the dipstick to the full level. Also, you can change the filter located inside the transmission pan. Taking this off, however, will drain ALL of the fluid from the transmission.

I do not know what the exact procedure is that I need to follow in order to check the automatic transmission in my 1998 KIA Sephia. Also how to replenish the fluid after it has been drained

The vehicle should be running, transmission in park. Locate the dipstick, normally near or around the transmission, pull it out and check where the fluid level on the stick is, wipe off the fluid and check level again, to confirm readings. Usally you put the fluid in thru the dipstick tube, a long funnel will help. Watch that you don't over fill the transmission with too much, check level often while refilling.

1998 VW Passat How do you check and fill transmission?

There is a drain plug on bottom of transmission and you need a lift. Vehicle needs to be lifted, and ran to operating temperature. With vehicle running, level, and at operating temperature, remove drain plug and fluid should steadly leak out. To fill you need a pump to pump fluid in from bottom. Thanks
