Flashing battery light on 1992 Chevy Astro

There are a few different things that can cause your problem. When the problem is occurring, disconnect the alternator plug, start the engine and measure voltage with a voltmeter. Connect a test light to 12V, reconnect the alternator connector and back probe the brown wire with the test light. Check to see if the alternator charges else, replace the alternator. Also, you may have a faulty instrument cluster. If you need more help on how to repair your alternator I would suggest checking out this sites HowTo section http://www.buyautoparts.com/howto/

Where is the idle air control valve located in a 2001 chevy astro van

You'll need to remove the interior engine cover(dog house).Torx screws for the covers, 2 bolts on floor. and bolts against the fire wall (i use a long extension with a swivel socket at the end). The IAC valve is screwed in to the side of the throttle housing (where the gas pedal hooks up to the engine).I can get a pic if you need it.

2001 astro chevy van 4.3 engines need to set the timing

The distributor in that engine can only be installed in one position. The hold down is built onto the distributor meaning when it is installed and the engine runs the computer is responsible for the timing. The distributor will move a little but won't correct major timing errors.

Changing a cap and rotor on 2001 Chevy Astro

pull off the center console inside the van to expose the engine. the distributor will be right in front of you. remove 2 screws from the cap, and make sure you get the wires on in the exact order you remove them, or else it wont start. rotor is underneath cap, and i believe the coil is right there on the cap.
