Question about 1988 Chevrolet Cavalier Z24
I have a 1988 Chevy Cavalier z24, which i've put two engines in (worst engine by GM to date). My current configuation includes a 2.8 v6 out of a 1989 pontiac grand prix, and an automatic transmition out of a 1990-91 chevy cavalier. Everything seems to bolt up just fine, everything starts and runs. My problems are, that I'm not sure where the "gears" are with coresponding to the shifter lever on the floor within the car....P R N D 1 2 or P R N 1 2 D...or something different. This could be a problem. My other problem is that when driving down the road, it doesn't want to shift out of 1st gear. I'm wondering if the wiring harness doesn't "match up" and I need an adapter, or maybe the transmision just won't work with my current configuration. Any help or Ideas would be GREATLY appreciated.
Try this :
with the car in park start it, then from park move it down one. if it is reverse move it down another one, now that should be neutral, then the next one should always be drive
