How is the Ground sire form the pump it cannot run if the ground is bad make sure the ground is attached to the frame or body if you need to splice a new round wire into the existing one and create yourself a good ground make sure the place you ground it to is scraped clean down to bare metal.

Since my last post have you verified the Ground? Just askin before you installed the new pump di by chance hook it up to a power source to check and see if it works? If you did there is a 90% chance that you burned it out. See running a electric fuel pump low on fuel or dry will burn it out it needs the fuel to cool itself. anyway once you get the truck running, keep at least 1/2 tank of fuel in at all times or risk loosing another pump

email me and let me know where you are with this problem and oh yea you need to use Factory Pump aftermarket seldom work don't let money dictate your repair quality is more important than price and Dealer Parts are updated and just better.

1998 ford ranger 2.5L manual trans. 4x2... i have power to inertia switch but not to fuel pump. help please

Can you reset the internia switch? Use a proper jumper wire and bypass the inertia switch, engine cranking. If the pump runs, maybe the inertia switch is faulty? jump the dark green wire with yellow tracer to pink wire with black tracer to see if pump will run. Just my opinion.

99 expedition my fuel pump isnt working checked fuses is there a fusuble fink with key on the fuel shutt off switch behind right kick panel has no power to any of the wires?

Power comes from a fuseable link to the pump relay, then to the inertia switch on the dark green and yellow wire. Power from the inertia switch to the pump is on the pink blue or pink black wire.

I just changed Fuel Pump in my 99 F150 and will not come on , What do I check ?

Find the inertia switch on he passenger side. It should have a dark green with yellow wire. Check for power on that wire when you turn the key on or try to start. If there is power make sure there is power on the pink with black wire. If there is power on the pink/black wire than you will need to drop the tank to access the connector and see if there is power there. I have run into after market fuel pumps that where not plugged in at the pump. Only made that mistake once. Now I check every one before they go in the tank.

1997 Ford F150 Electric Fuel Pump will npt pump

Did you check the fuel inertia switch in the passenger side kick panel ?

The fuel pump is powered :
the fuse to the fuel pump relay.
The fuel pump relay to the fuel inertia switch
The fuel inertia switch to the fuel pump itself.

At the fuel inertia switch in the kick panel, power from the relay is the Dark Green w/ Yellow stripe wire and the pink w/ black stripe wire is the power. from the fuel inertia switch to the fuel pump.

If you jumper the fuel pump relay, you should hear it run. If not pull the fuel pump relay, and check the pins in the relay socket, pin 30 should be the power from the fuse.

If you have power at pin #30, jumper the relay socket as shown with the red line above, and check the dark green w/ yellow stripe wire at the fuel inertia switch for power.
Press the button on the top of the fuel inertia switch, and check for power leaving the fuel inertia switch on the pink w/ black stripe wire.

This is tests good, check for power at the fuel pump, same pink w/ black stripe wire.
Fuel inertia switch info is in the owners manual, If you did not get an owners manual with your truck ( purchased used ), you can download one from Ford :

Engine (97 ford ranger) stopped at stop lite and would not restart. Spark to plug wires, plenty of gas, good battery. after cranking several times, will start and run 3 or 4 sec. THE RELAY TO THE FUEL PUMP...

Just for the hell of it replace the fuse with a new one relative to the fuel pump also clean and inspect all electrical plugs and connections associated with the fuel system. There may be a bad ground with out the truck in front of me it will be difficult to go any further it is possible the pump is not creating enough pressure to close the relay have you replaced the fuel filter? If possible do a fuel pressure check at the fuel rail it should be 30 - 40 psi if not replace the pump.

1994 ranger fuel problem

check your fuel pressure, also check to see if there is a booster pump, some ford rangers have a booster pump inline... fuel injected units need to have at least 35-45 psi some even higher around 50 psi...

Keeps blowing ECM1 fuse

The first thing you should do is to locate the oil pressure switch/sending unit.

This switch serves two functions.

1) provide oil pressure reading

2) disable the fuel pump relay in event of oil pressure loss.

When this switch is failing to provide the correct pressure to the ECU. The wiring harness can overheat and eventually create a short.

ECM1 fuse blow is because the harness is grounding/shorting.

DO NOT drive the truck until you change the oil pressure switch.

After you change the switch, you should spend sometime to inspect the wiring between the fuel pump relay,ECU and fuel pump.

Please post up day on the comment window/page.

I will follow up on it later.

Good luck.
