The seat heater elements will break or fail over time. The front bottom seat covers need to be removed and the element replaced. For an illustrated tutorial on how to remove the bottom seat cover, go here and select the entry labeled: 18.12.2004: NG 900: Front Seat Upholstery.

When this was happening on my Envoy it ended up being the seat heaters control module that was going out. About $600 a seat on mine. Just wish my repair center found that out before they replaced the seat heaters twice.

Check your radiator fluid level, if it is low it is a good chance your heater core or the hose to the heater core has a leak. The heater core is a small version of a radiator which has the air from the blower blow across it to force warm air into the cabin of the vehicle. You will need to probe under the passenger's dash to locate the leak.
