It's not just the check engine light, but an odd assortment of intermittent problems -- a two second pause after turning the key before anything happens; the radio was dead for a day; the cruse control sometimes won't engage even when the check engine light is off; cancel on the cruse control sets the cruse control. The dealer said the only thing in the memory was that the linkage for the transmission was loose, but everything works now. But it doesn't.

Did the dealer read the code and find out what is was, or did they just reset it? You need to have the code read, so you know what the problem is. Once you know what is throwing the code you can replace that particular part or address it's issue. If that does not work, it could be something similar/related to the issue of the code. With having such little kilometers on the vehicle and the fact that it's only 2+ years old, I would think that the vehicle would still be under warrany. If it is under warranty, I would take the vehicle back the dealer and insist that the issue that is throwing the code be fixed. Resetting the code does nothing to address the issue. It could be possible that nothing is wrong with the vehicle and maybe an issue with the ECM/PCM, or the electronic brain for the vehicle.
Good luck and let us know how you do!

It depends on the error code(s) being reported. A very common one (P0457) is that the engine computer thinks the gas cap is loose. The gas filler neck often develops rust holes which cause this code, fix is repair usually quite easy, or replace. There are many other error codes. Look around your area for a Subaru shop other than the dealer. Your problem fix may much simpler and cheaper than the dealer, who often give the most expensive, worst case, repair options.

I had the same problem after 5 months of purchasing a 2011 Edge. The Oil Engine Pressure light comes on and stays on after driving 10 minutes and stopping for gas- it turns off shortly after I start driving again. I had a 2007 Edge as well and never had this problem. I just took the 2011 Edge back to the dealer. They could not duplicate the problem and instead reset all computer settings. The next day the same Oil Engine Pressure light came back on. Anyone out there with any suggestions?

I have replaced gas cap but engine light keeps coming on

I had the same issue a few years ago, but with a Subaru Forester. The Subaru service department suggested starting the engine and shutting it back down six to eight times. Let it rest half a minute of so between starts.

I hope this helps, and please do let me know.

O.k the best advise I can give is to disconnect the battery possitive terminal for about 15 min. This should reset your dash lights. Drive for a few days and see if they come back on. This time they might send a code to you. Try you Autozone or prts store to have it scanned. They do it for free.

the dealer wants your business there is a box under the dash that both speedometer cables go into push a screwdriver into the hole in the box and, reset the light the light only goes on when your car has gone a certain amount of miles to remind you to service your car
