Thanks because I thought it was headlight switch and bought one and that was not the problem. So my situation is this I was driving one night hit a pot hole and both lights went out and before that I had my friends kids playing and turing all the gagdets which could of blown the fuse. N ow when I turn my headlight or high beams on they dont come on. So i turn them off and the dome and parking lights stay on so I have to unplug battery to make them come off could this be the fuse or electrical

It's an electrical short you have a connector that is bad and probably shorted . chances are when you hit that pot hole you knocked a connector loose are a wire came off. if you replace the fuse and it still doesn't work that tells you that there is a loose wire or bad bulbs or a bad socket so you have to check each of these to find the problem and seeing is your dome light stays on that tells me that your circuit to the dimmer switch is shorting to your head light circuit so check the connetor to the dimmer switch. i hope this helps please rate this...thanks

you can do this yourself. all you have to do is check that the connectors don't have a burn mark on them which indicates a short. you can check for loose wires as well. if the dimmer switch is bad and the cause of the problem you can purchase it from Napa, Oreilly, etc for alot less than at the dealer. it is just a matter of being patient and finding the short. if you have a mechanic friend he can help you with this. it will not be expensive at all. good luck and thanks for the rating

You most likely have a bad headlight relay or a bad headlight switch.

Fuses, check all of them. Check relays, sometimes tapping with the handle of a screwdriver will get a faulty one to work intermittenly. Check dimmer switch and light switch. IF you have driven through water with leaking headlight benzels/covers, then water may have blown both. Im leaning towards fuses/relays or light switch.

Headlights go off at night cannot get them to go onat night often will work during day

I would pull the main headlight switch out and check it for burning, that is the most common issue for this type of problem with the headlights coming and going.

Sounds like the headlight switch is bad. Is it on the dash or on the steering column?
