This is caused by the sending unit in the gas tank, if the fuse was blown nothing in the dash would work. You will need to pull the fuel tank to replace the sender.

sounds like you may have a bad fuel level sender problem. as for the check engine light coming on and storing a fault code that is a separate issue.

GAS NEEDLE BROKEN.HOW CAN THIS BE FIXED?

the only way to fix would be to replace the instrument cluster but then you would need it to be programmed to vehicle. do not buy a used one or will cost you more, buy through your local dealer

2005 Chevy Malibu...My gas gauge is not working. It will go to full, stay there for a bit then go to empty

This is almost always the sending unit in the tank. Test that (not so easy to access it).

Fuel hand goes to empty after you start the car even with the tank full

Could be a fuse or the fuel level sensor (part of the fuel pump) located in fuel tank.

Gas needle isn't working. We put gas the needle goes up then a few minutes later gas light comes on saying no gas and gas needle is on E

Sounds like the fuel sending unit in the gas tank is faulty. Also may want to be sure all wiring is in good condition before replacing fuel sending unit. The fuel tank will have to be removed to perform fix.

2005 Chevy Malibu the gas guage has stopped working. The guage will go from full to empty over and over. The gas cap light comes on and now my engine light is on constantly. How do I get this fixed for...

hey the reason your gas gauge is going from full to empty is that your fuel pump which is in the gas tank has a sensor that relays how much gas the tank has in it, the sensor is gone bad and will have to be replaced. And your engine light problem is probley due to putting gas in the car while it is running, my wife has a 2005 malibu and we have had the same problems with her car hope this was helpful

2005 malibu gas gauge goes up and down on movement. When I fill it, it goes to empty. And engine light comes on. But mostly moves from full to empty.

Sounds like a bad sending unit or a bad gauge. All 2000 an later GM vehicles seem to have problems with their gauge clusters. Hope this helps.

Gas gauge has stopped working on 1998 Buick Park avenue, could it be a fuse?

If it was the sending unit, it is accessible through the trunk floor. A problem I have with my Park Ave gas gauge is when I get a dead battery and try to start the car, the needles will twitch and it sends my gas gauge needle to the far right side. This causes it to rotate/fall under the proper gauge are and come up under the rest pin on the left side. When that happens, I have to pull my whole instrument cluster and rotate it around so the needle goes back up to the top.
Check where you needle is the next time you turn the key to run. If its under the little rest pin at the empty position of the gas gauge, then this should be the fix.
