Question about 1999 Porsche Boxster

1 Answer

"engine service" light

After the light came on my mechanic replaced a filter.
All seemed fine for few days but then the light came back on. What else could be wrong?

I would take it down and have a diagnostics test ran. It could be as simple as your hose is loose. as was the case on mine.

I was also told the following:

If you go toIf you go to an auto parts store, they can probably read the code for you. Once you have the code, do an online search for Porsche ODBII codes, and you can findout what the issue is. The problem can be one of many different things, and there is no way to diagnose it without knowing which code activated the light. You also don't state mileage, if there is any rough idling, etc. an auto parts store, they can probably read the code for you. I have a 2000 buick lesabre. The fix engine soon

It NEVER was the camshaft sensor! Unless, you've removed the engine lately, which I doubt.
RUN to Advance Auto Parts and buy a can of "SeaFoam" and add to your gas tank per instructions...drive at least 100 miles and the problem should go away...IF it doesn't you'll have to replace the O2 sensors in the exhaust system...Any good mechanic should be able to do this for much less $$ than the dealership DO NOT go to the dealer for repairs!
Good Luck
