Power windows did you find a fix for this

It's only the front windows, but the van does not have any other power windows or doors. We did swap the accessory delay #1 and #2 relays to see if one was bad, but to avail.

Do you have to take the whole door apart to try this test for the ground? Does the switch panel come off?

  • ctbenfield Sep 05, 2008

ok, swapped the relay #1 with #2 no help, no fuse is blown that I found, difficult to tell from the owners manual which fuse actually power the windows.

I grounded the switch, no help.

The switch does make a clicking noise like its applying power/open relay in the door to the drivers side motor but nothing happens. Its also does the same on the passenger side.

The SJB seems to power everything thats on them, i dont know if they have one channel, circuit that can go bad.

I suspect part of the switch has gone bad or i haven't found the right fuse.

Good Day
Other problem could be is the ground for this system, the ground is at the drv's switch, to check this ground out the switch with other wire. using other wire go from the ground of the switch and frame, fine a good ground on the door and see if that works. If the windows work when you ground out like this then you have a bad ground, Now the other problems could be.
1. fuse
2. circuity.
3.accessory delay relay 1
4. quarter window switch
5. smart junction box (SJB)

Now is it just the front windows or is it all of the power windows that don't work?

    Hi;

you can just pop out the switch from the panel. Just use a little screwdriver to do this.

Power window will not go down how do i troublre

NO COST PROCEDURE TO FIX IT:

1. Sit in vehicle on seat next to problematic window
2. Ignition key is on
3. Door in question is opened (in case you closed it)
4. While door is open, press and hold power window button in desired window travel, keep button pressed !!
5. SLAM door closed with one hand while other hand holds button as per #4.
6. Watch window operate as it should.
7. Repeat 3-6 if necessary, but usually the first try works!

NOW, for the naysayers that says you must replace power window motors etc, at $$$ cost because the above fix does not work, or is not long lasting fix, or less than a "professional fix".... Well then, when the window fails to operate again, apply same fix again at that time.

I have fixed my van this way numerous times (usually once a year), and to all I recommend this fix too, likewise do the same and are happy with the solution.

How do you fix a power window

It sounds like the window fell off its track, or the scissor lift mechanism lost a screw. You will need to take your door panel off to determine the exact cause. Check to see if the glass broke and let me know. Often times you can fix your problem with a new nut and bolt for about 50 cents, or you may just need to re-seat your window. If you are not comfortable taking your door panel off, I would recommend bringing it to a mechanic, but expect a bill around $100 for a simple fix.

Power windows

As long as the windows will work fine some of the time, it sounds like the problem is in the power supply and replacing the fuse should fix it, otherwise there may be a loose wire somewhere in the circuitry.
