hi! an old time saying to train new hires at a place i used to work at with thousands of valves was lefty loosee, righty tighty!! or counter-clockwise to loosen, to take off standard, normal threads. clockwise to tighten. sometimes the filters are on way to tight which is why it might seem like something is wrong. they should only be tightened no more than3/4 turn once the gasket makes contact.good luck
You turn it Counter-Clockwise (turn to the left to loosen), we say this about this type of thread, "lefty loosey, righty tighty". They make specail tools to remove filters or you can drive a long screwdriver through the filter skin if you have room and then you will get enough leverage to break the rubber seal loose.
Are you kidding,
1 Jack up your car
2 Find the oil plug on oil pan
3 loosen the plug- righty tighty lefty loosey
4 drain oil
5 put plug back in
6 put oil in engine
