Question about 1996 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme Coupe

Stumper??????????????????????????????????????????????????? i just replaced the head gaskets on my 1996 cutlass supreme now the rocker tic if i crank them down it goes awy but then my valves are stuck open and the car has no power if i put them at 7 lbs they come loose and the tics back it is on a new head had to replace one it was the roller rocker set up but i have the bearing set up i was told i could convert so i did but somthing wrong and noone here has any idea can someoone please help

    i checked all that ive been told i may have tick the cam when rebuilding the motor would this be posiable

    yea a mean nicked it not for sure but i was told i might have it has the roller rockers in it it does sound almost like a lifter but i have had a compression check done to the engine and the compression is there it loder than just a normal tick it quiets down after a while but when you rev the motor it almost goes away and then when it returns to idle its loud again i just cant seem to figure it out and have had about 3 poeple look at it and know one can tell me what it is i almost wonder if i have a bent lifter but its still seating so thats why the compression is good

    got it tore it back down and the #2 lifter wheel was all nicked up no more tick just thought id pass it on cas anyone else ever has this problem

You failed to mention which engine you have.
If it is a push-rod engine, the push-rods may need to be matched to the head you are trying to use.
The condition you describe sounds like the push rods are too long.

    Did you mean 'nicked' ? As in damaged?

    You are risking bending the valve stems or push rods by adjusting them to zero clearance. 

    If you are concerned about the 'ticking' noise, this is normal with mechanical valves and with the valve cover on, it becomes much quieter.
    Hydraulic valves can operate with no clearance because they exert no force when the valves are supposed to close.

You may have a cloged radiator,bad water pump, or cooling fan is not operating ? Worst of all a bad head gasket.

Car low coolant light on, over heated , fans didn't work. REPLACED: straight wired fans, fans worked. end up changing cool temp. sensor,crank cover broke replaced put in new CTC,radiator cracke,...

sounds like blown head gasket in between cylinders,that isnt supposed to push out fluid,most likely blown head gasket,check with another mechanic u trust,take car back

If it's the water pump, you should be able to see it dripping just behind the pulley. The seal on the water pump is usually what goes. If there is antifreeze drips all over the front of the engine, and it drips a bit after you shut it off, it likely is the water pump.
If it runs poorly when you first start it in the morning, however, you could still have a head gasket problem. If that is the case, you will see a lot of white exhaust, which is the cylinder blowing the antifreeze out. One thing you can do is run it with the rad cap off, and see if it continues to bubble. If it does, then your head gasket is leaking. I am assuming it is a V6, so keep in mind that you have 2 head gaskets. The other oine could be gone now if it wasn't replaced.

might not want to hear this but sounds like a head gasket,check the oil also if the oil is creamy like a light color this is probably the problem

Coolant in the oil. Head gasket replacement 3.1 l

Refresh the head gaskets. If this doesn't solve the problem, try the stop leak (which won't fix head gasket problems, by the way)
For a couple of "car payments" you can have this work done.

valve covers,1/2 hour each, oil pan 1 hour,head gaskets 7 hours,transmission pan1 hour ,intake 5 hours,or exhaust manifold gaskets.4 hours

If there is water in your engine oil or it looks like chocolate milk, then you have a blown head gasket. Your coolant will also be off color and your car will most likely begin to overheat. It will be need to be repaired.
