Question about 1996 Nissan Maxima
I need to replace both boots on my 96 Nissan Maxima. How can I accomplish this with having to get get a realignment? What at the tracks of the trade?
If you are talking about the steering rack boots, you cam just take a hacksaw and make a small cut right behind the locking nut on the inner tie rod ond shaft. The nut that you need to loosen a bit to take the outer tie rod end off. make a small cut right behind it, so you can see where to stop wit it when you put the whole assemble/boots back on. That would be what I would do, if I didn't want to get it aligned after. It will be close enough, but I would keep an eye on your tires to make sure, they are not wearing off faster than normal. If you talking CV boots, different procedure. Let me know.
