Tip & How-To about Chrysler Neon

CAR WON'T START, WILL NOT CRANK

If your car is not starting and it won't crank, there are a few things you need to check. If you do have power to the inside of the car, interior lights are working, you need to check your ignition fuse first. It is located in your fuse box. You will need to refer to your owner manual for the location of the fuse or check the diagram on your fuse box. You want to make sure the fuse has not blown. If it continues to blow, you need to check out the wiring harness, especially around the fuse housing. If your fuse is ok, you will then want to check out the starter and the starter solenoid. You want to make sure none of the wires are damaged around the starter and all connections are good. Make sure the starter is not clogged out with oil or other fluids. If it is, that may be the reason it is not working correctly. You want to clean it out as much as you can and put it back in to try it. Now, if you don't have power in the vehicle, you want to check the battery first. Make sure the battery is holding a proper charge. If it is not holding a charge, you want to make sure that the terminals are clean and the ends are not loose. If your terminals are loose, redo the wires and reattach the terminal ends. If they are cracked, your going to want to go ahead and change them. You can buy them at the part stores for just a few dollars. Also, make sure your post are clean. You can easily clean them with a metal wire brush. Make sure the battery is not leaking acid as well. Look for any moisture spots on the battery and make sure you where gloves when working around the battery. You do not want to get any acid on your skin. If that all looks good, you want to check the wires that go from the battery to the starter. Make sure they are not damaged. Remember, by being able to work on your vehicle yourself, you will save a lot of time and money in the long run. As always, thank you for reading and using FixYa. Best wishes.

Ok my 1983 camaro has a v6 in it and every time I want to start it I have to hook it up to a portable battery charger and start it up like that but now it won't even start up. Even when the battery is fully charged it seems to lose power can you please help I need this thing to start before school starts oh an it will tur. Over but won't fully start

Sounds as though the battery is no good,
unless you know otherwise & also had it tested
Charging a battery doesn't address it's internal
condition
You have battery cables that corrode inside & can be
voltage drop tested
You have the starter & solenoid, ignition sw & such, to name
a few, lots of possible causes & things to check

car will not start it cranks but it won't start. I have changed the spark plugs.

Car no start problem is sometimes very difficult to confirm. You try all the possible things, but still you get no fault and problem is still the same.--------
In that case, you need to check few things individually.
Check the spark, the battery, the crank, the fuel and other most possible parts. Click this link below for more details:-- http://howtobyme.blogspot.com/2011/10/car-troubleshooting-tips.html

When trying to start the car the engine won't even try to turn over. All you hear is a few quite clicks. Battery is working (all the lights come on, can turn on the radio ect.). Any help appreciated.

Make sure the battery cables are tight to the posts. The starter takes alot more current than the headlights and will require more tight of a connection.

92 cavalier 4cyc. with coil pack cranks but won,t start checked fire has none

if the car crankes and wont start there are a few things you need to have for it to run. spark fuel and timing. check for spark at plugs. check for fuel preasure and injector pulse. if these are o/k then check engine timing. if everything is o/k then you probably have a major vacume leak.
