Tip & How-To about BMW 3 Series

Message for BMW Owners

BMW's are not only a prestigious vehicles but they are very dependable vehicles when you understand their maintenance schedules. BMW literally pioneered "maintenance regiments". Not just a dealer check up but they were one of the first to use On Board Computers (OBC) with an integrated service scheduled. It was and continues to be a "no brainer". BMW was one of the first (if not the first) to offer "LIMP" mode. Most cars/trucks will break down and leave you stranded & usually at the most un-opportune time. Whereas a BMW will go into "Limp" mode and let you drive in a restrictive mode so you can get home or to a repair facility. Enough of BMW history.

what maintance should I do on 1995 bmw 525 at 180,000 mi

Hello. The BMW company has one of the most inclusive maintenance schedule of all. The BMW Maintenance System has been devised with the following objectives: maximize vehicle safety, reliability, and minimize breakdowns resulting from wear, at minimum cost. The Service Interval Light system will indicate when you are due for service based on your driving habits. In addition, there are recommendations for specific mile intervals.
The answer to your question is that is all of the recommended maintenance has been occurring all along, the 180000 mark requires the extensive INSPECTION 1. Any BMW dealership will print you off the entire checklist for the asking.

Toyota 4Runner/maintenance schedule at 140K miles

The maintenance schedule is an outline and should be followed if you want to keep your vehicle in good condition. the maintenance items listed in the schedule are performed at their set intervals for a reason. Manufacturers have found the wear limits on certain parts and those parts may need to be serviced or replaced at those intervals or catastrophic failures may result.

looking at a 95 rodeo with 115000 mile what can i expect as far as maintenance/tune ups?

Really depends on whether the maintenance has been kept up on it with records and how hard the car has been driven. Hopefully its been taken care of. I'd say a minor tune up. Plugs, wires, oil change. Check and possibly change tranny fluid. It should be good, that engine will go 250,000 - 300,000 miles without much trouble if you take care of it. True story. Hope it helps!
