Tip & How-To about 2004 Ford F150
First off, if you don't have a belt routing diagram and aren't sure how it's routed you should make a note/diagram so you won't be confused when it's time to install your new belt. To remove tension from your belt you'll need to rotate your tensioner counter clockwise. They normally have either a place to use a wrench towards the top or a spot where you can add a ratchet to move it (generally between 16-18mm, and a 3/8 input for your ratchet). Once the tensioner has been moved and belt is loose remove it. Slide your new belt into position (with tensioner not yet moved you'll be unable to go over one pulley) move your belt tensioner and fit your belt in place. Make sure the grooves of belt are properly seated in pulleys and under tensioner roller. Start your vehicle and inspect your belt while running.
