Tip & How-To about 1989 Ford F 150

Keep the RPMs Low to get home without a Tow($80-$120)....

Hello all, from what I am finding on my problem:engine cuts out for no reason when it reaches operating temp-- there are other people with this similar issue with their car engines just stalling out while driving down the road. If this is your car and you can start it after it cools down with a little time (30-45min.) I have found that if I kept the RPMs to 1000-1200 or 20-25 mph I was able to "crawl" home (and this was going over 40ft brigde too) without stalling and did not need a tow truck ($80-$100). Hope this helps when it happens. BTW I am only putting this tip here, if you are online elsewhere pass this on. Also I will have follow up for you if it was the ignition module after all.

why does my 92 geo metro only blow cold air when turn on heater?

Does the engine reach normal operating temp? Are the heater hoses hot? Also, could be a problem with temp control or temp door under the dash?

1984 olds cutlass supreme brougham. Drives good until operating temp is reached. It starts to cut out. Changed plugs, wires, cap, rotor. Checked timing. Still cuts out. No smoke from exhaust. Changed fuel filter also. Idles fine. Accelerate a little even parked and it is not smooth

I would be suspecting a faulty condenser and coil as when they reach operating temperature they start to break down electrically.. Check that the auto choke is coming off and not tending to over fuel the engine

aux fan not cutting in when o/heating 1989 190E 2.6Ltr. Fans operate when tested.

Your vehicle should have a viscous fan clutch for controlling the engine temp from overheating. The auxillary fans in front are used when the a/c is on. I would start by spinning the engine fan or viscous fan by hand when the vehicle is off. The fan should show resistance when you spin it. If it doesn't and it just free spins then the viscous fan clutch is bad. Let me know what happens when you spin the engine fan and also exactly how high does the engine temp get. Does it reach the red mark?
