Tip & How-To about Ford F-150

How to find a misfire on a ford obd2

If you have a slight misfire and only get a P0300 random multiple misfire code here is a trick that i use. u will need to have a scanner with a "generic/global OBD2" setting. go into mode 6 and go to special tests and find test number 53. fi you find this you will see a special misfire counter and will show misfire history. clear the codes and get the misfire to come back. recheck this section in the scanner and you will see where that hidden misfire is. this trick is great for finding bad coil boots or water on the boots without going though the trouble of removing all the coils for Ford engines with coil-on-plug systems.

ReNissan P0300

a misfire can be mechanical as well as electrical
code p 0300 is random/ multiple misfires detected
low fuel pressure is a probable cause from a problem fuel pressure regulator or problem EVAC system not venting properly causing a vacuum in the tank and starving the pump
erratic could be from valve problems on heating
loose valve seat insert/s, incorrect valve clearance from faulty hydraulic followers, cam shaft lobe failures are all part of the mechanical reason for random /multiple misfires

PO 171 and PO 300 CODE GMC ENVOY

the sensor to replace is the HO2S sensor which is different to an O2 sensor. (has a different function)
code p0300 is random/multiple misfires
as misfires are from the electrical components you did not pay attention to items like low fuel pressure and faulty injectors which also cause random misfires.
