Tip & How-To about Porsche 928

Automotive Do-It-Yourself

We all have different levels of abilities in everything that we do. In these economically challenging times, doing-it-yourself can be a very rewarding accomplishment in so many ways.
Anytime you need to do work on an automobile, it is a great advantage and I feel necessary to be in possession of a mechanic's manual for your vehicle or at least access to a site with the technical information you will need to take on your repair. All manufacturers/ models have their own idiosyncrasies, techniques, chronological steps and tricks to simplify your job. The average cost of $25 for a manual is a small investment for the amount of information you will have at your fingertips. Just the exposure to terminology will be a great asset to both you and those assisting you in your repairs and diagnostics in order to more clearly communicate. I feel that this is a great site and hope that it helps us all to move forward in all that we do...MK

2010 Dodge Challenger fixing blend door actuators

The process should be very similar to the 2011 Dodge Charger video found here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Q8F50sd7TU
Or the Ram 1500 video found here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zqLlWRf8fv8

Yes they are different vehicles, but the process is very similar. If you are not comfortable with figuring out the differences then you should probably have someone do it for you. Even if you find the video of the 2010 Challenger, there are sometimes variations even the same year models.

I wish I could be of more help.

Can you repair a seized engine

Hi Marion:
Wicked question.
Answer will depend on reason that it is seized.
It could be completely beyond "economical" repair, and I stress the word economical.
Virtually every mechanic can repair any engine, given enough time, money, and resources.
My recommendation would be to discuss the situation with someone you know and trust who has mechanical ability.
It is easy to put more money into a repair than the value that the vehicle will have once it is repaired.
Hope this helps.

service engine soon light on because of o2 sensor

Some vehicles have several sensors to measure oxygen levels in the exhaust gases before and after the CO converter. When they work, they can cause an excessively rich fuel mixture to be leaned. When they do not work, they usually do not effect real world drive-ability. For the last 15 years, they all work the same; using 2 heater wires and 2 DC voltage output wires. Usually, the length of the connecting wires and the connector type is the difference between a $50 and a $500 unit.
