Tip & How-To about Honda Accord

Is your check engine light on?

If your check engine light is on, it is usually a bad sensor. You can go to your closest Autozone and they will hook it up to their hand held diagnostic computer and tell you what sensors are causing the light to be on.

check engine

If it is the check engine light, just take it to Autozone or O'reilly auto parts or call your local auto parts store. They will hook up a hand held analyzer for free. Then they will give you a written code with the definition of what it is and go from there. It is most likely a sensor of some sort. If you take it to a mechanic shop or a dealer, they may charge up to 100 dollars just to read the code. Good luck and best wishes.

check engine light

I just did this with my 1996 outback's check engine light. It is some sort of sensor, oxygen, egr, etc. Go to a place like Autozone parts store or any of the parts stores that will do a free test for you by hooking up their hand held analyzer to your computer. They will read the code and give you a printout of what it means. Take care and good luck.

If it is the check engine light, just take it to Autozone or O'reilly auto parts, or call a large auto parts chain and ask them if they provide engine analyzing service, I took my Subaru to Autozone and they will hook up the hand held analyzer to your car and read the code for free, then give you a printout of what it means, then go from there, Good luck.

1998 Jeep Cherokee Sport w/ 4 liter in-line 6, I have a check engine light on and the hand held diagnotic unit is telling me "BANK 1 SENSOR 1 HIGH VOLTAGE". What is the cause(s)?

Your O2 sensor needs to be replaced. These sensors constantly out put voltage from .1 volts up to 1.3 volts, your sensor is stuck in the high range. It is the first O2 closest to the engine.

Go to any large Auto Parts store and they can check the code that is turning the light on. Post back the code and I can tell you what you need to do to repair your problem.
