Tip & How-To about Volvo 240

What is the best Brake Pad for a European car

What is the best after market brake pad for a European car? Since our shop specializes in imports, we get that question a-lot, and when it comes to European cars, Akebono brake pads are the only brake pad we use, unless of course the customer asks for something else. The Akebono is a little more expensive than some of the other after market Brake Pads, but they are well worth the money. Akebono brake pads are formulated to significantly reduce the black dust found so frequently on European vehicles. Which means less dust on your wheels and less work you have to do to keep them clean. As long as we have been installing the Akebono brake pads on our customers vehicles, we have never had even a single come back. That is why we will always recommend Akebono to all of our cutomers. Akebono brake pads are available for Audi, BMW, Jaguar, Land Rover, Mercedes-Benz, MINI, Porsche, SAAB, Volkswagen, and Volvo

"Service brakes" usually comes on when the pads are getting low. You want to change the pads before you notice the brakes don't feel right. Could also be that the brake fluid is low. Definately get it checked ASAP, brakes are important and you want them in good shape. So you can stop.

I would like to know the average price for having a reputable shop replace all four brake pads & rotors on my 2001 honda passport

Difficult to answer as parts prices vary from dealer to brake shop to shop. Hours would be fairly constant so best to let you fingers do the walking and ring various brake shops and get quotes for what you want including the Honda dealer as sometimes genuine parts can be cheaper than after market in the long run

i changed my brakes and now i cant stop

Possible that the system was not bled properly, Once the brakes are serviced specially the hydraulics system, then it is important to see if there any AIR lock within the fluid system . The air has to be bled off till the pedal locks firmly. Also the brake pads must be set to close in with the same gap in all the four wheels.
This will give the best performance on your brakes.
