Tip & How-To about Chevrolet C1500

Save your fuel pump!

It is not ever thought of,and with todays fuel is not the best with all the chemicals they use at the refineries >.We change the oil, every 2 to 3000 miles, and that is a good thing, air filters when they are dirty, but what about the fuel filters? This is a filter no one likes to fool with, but I tell you 50 percent of fuel pump failure is the result of clogged fuel filters. They are nasty to fool with, and we just do not think about them to often.A clogged,or restricted fuel filter will cause a fuel pump to strain trying to pump the fuel from the fuel tank up to the engine. This causes more pressure on the pump, the fuel pressure has to go somewhere, and the pump just blows out it`s seals cause there is nowhere for the fuel to go.So my suggestion is every other oil change, install a new fuel filter. With todays fuel, there will be more to clog a fuel filter than there used to be.

Oil was changed when car asked for it, did not use Ford shop. Place used 10W not 5W as required. Now a blower motor comes on somewhere. Did I screw up or place where I went?

No, 10 is fine during the warmer weather... use 5 in the winter..
The oil is fine... Motorcraft oil is made by some big refinery..(Ford, GM, Honda, Chrysler, Wal-Mart, ..etc.. Do not have their own refinery.. they all purchase their "branded oil", in the bottle color they specify, maybe with a few of their own specific additives...including COLOR!)... I use Wal-Mart oil in EVERYTHING!! The oil change did not have anything to do with the blower.. unless they accidentally unplugged a wire...

My car has got a jerk when I accelerate and it's idling low what could be wrong

You injectors could be fouled. If you use non-brand gasoline, it comes from different pipelines or barged in from chemical plants or refineries. It only gets to be Shell, Exxon, Chevron, etc at the the distribution location when they drop in a package of additive that makes name brand. Gasoline develops gums that deposit on hot injectors. The additive keep the gums from depositing. (Years ago, I worked in the chemical business and know these things.) I also have used non brand gasoline and experienced the same problems. I took my car to an express oil change service and had them do an injector cleaning. Then I used an additive that you can buy at most auto parts stores, Walmart, KMart, etc. in every other tank full of gasoline. That took care of the problem. I hope this helps.

Erratic oil pressure gauge

Have you changed the oil filter? Change the oil and filter.(USE the AC Delco filter and the 10W - 30 oil..(Wal-Mart oil is fine - it's made by a major refinery - HINT- Walmart does not own a refinery!!!) They buy the oil, have it put in their marked containers and sell it cheaper then others) I ONLY use Wal-Mart oil in everything!!..you might try a pint of Lucas oil treatment..
See if the new filter helps.. sometimes they are defective and block oil flow and the pressure makes it flow..

I got an oil change and a week later caught a flat and dead battery, it sat for 3 months in front of my house (wintertime), now I want to fix it, will I need a new oil change?

Yes, it is okay. Unlike fuel settling and separating, the oil does not change as much. The chemical additives in oil can start to deteriorate after 6 months, but most of the changes occur due to water vapor condensation from the cool down from running.

The best thing for your car now is to add a fuel additive like Heet" or another form of "Drygas" which helps get the moisture out of the gas.

Fuel Tank Loud Pop Sound On Shutdown

Just a thought...did you buy a key type gas tank cap...maybe it is defective or the wrong one and does not allow venting properly and the tank pops when pressure is relieved. You could also have a bad evaporative cannister.
