Tip & How-To about Chrysler 300M
Hi There,
Your sitting there looking at the dash, the keys and thinking impure
thoughts. Not to worry. This is what is happening:
Your front
wheels are slightly (or more) off center. They are trying to center
themselves and in doing so are putting pressure on the lock plate. The pressure on this plate, which normally prevents the steering wheel from turning, is now preventing the key from turning so it can be unlocked. I believe the term is 'ironic'.
Even more so with the fix which is fast and simple
Which
ever way the front
wheels are pointing, however slightly, turn the steering wheel a little
bit further
in the same direction, then try the key while holding the wheel over.
Doing
this takes the pressure off the lock plate and allows the cylinder to
move.
If you don't have the key that's a whole different
fix......
Best regards
Mike
