Tip & How-To about 2007 Mercedes-Benz C230 Sedan

Long Life for Diesel Car Battery

Most often diesel car battery fails earlier than the petrol version mainly because of the necessity of cranking more for compression ignition. I would suggest that if you can be patient and cautious when starting from cold condition, the battery will not be fatigued.
AS YOU SWITCH ON WAIT FOR THE HEATER LIGHT AND THE RELAY TO CUT OFF BEFORE YOU CRANK. DEPENDING ON THE COLD CONDITION CRANK ONLY AFTER YOU SWITCH ON HEATER MAYBE A COUPLE TO SEVERAL TIMES.
slowly you will come to understand your engine and after the heater relay has cut offf there is ample battery amperage on the battery to turn the starter with ease and maybe a single revolution start.Once you engage the heater and do this process do not switch off the engine unless it is warm and running to the desired temperature.
Doing such a practice will make the battery regain lost power without a drain in the morning and possible early deterioration.

compression low 130 on all four.will start with a lot of cranking or easy start.not smoking , or loosing water bot when running has plenty of power. 86000 miles

one idea is to tell us what engine it is petrol or diesel
130 is plenty to start a petrol engine so it must be a diesel
Even at that a diesel with good injectors will start if the start rpms from the battery are high enough
so check the injectors and battery condition

1992 Toyota Pickup Shorted Positive wire to battery with the Negative post now won't start

There is a good chance that you have blown either a main fuse, fusible link or possibly an ignition component. Is it a diesel or petrol vehicle? Does the engine crank over or not?

If you give me a bit more info I would be more than happy to try and help you further.

My 2002 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD Diesel instrument panel went completely out and would not accelerate.

check your timing chain its probably broken. diesels have no spark plugs and uses compression ignition and uses a lot of battery charge to turn it over. thats why it sounded like it was dead. if the chain brakes the upper and lower cam and crank shafts aren't in time together so you get no compression ignition. sorry for your troubles and hope i helped

A light appears on my dashboard with a car skidding. Now my Engine and ABS has started to flash. Don't if this has anything to do with it but my car wouldn't start one morning and i thought it was my battery. The AA came and hooked up my battey and it turned out i simply had no diesel. The problems started soon after. thanks

vauxhall or opel it doesnt matter if this is a astra or a zaffiro petrol then i would expect this but the diesel version iam not sure about but i would suspect the ECU for this as the petrol versions are prone to the ECU going wrong with a jump start but if you have siemans unit then this iam not sure about but ?? as havent had problems with diesels as YET mainly vehicles around 2002 onwards of the petrol type then yes lots of problems

Firstly fit a manual overide to the heater plugs .relay -push button type switch -wire -connectors ,run a wire direct from battery to relay ,other side to heater plug relay output so it feeds all the heaters ,push button inside cab with a 12v feed from ignition switch running to relay then other side of relay to earth ,leave vehicle on charge often on trickle charge where possible ,also on a full tank of diesel put in a litre of petrol to stop diesel waxing up ,nice old rug or blanket over engine and it will first time every time ,only use the petrol when weather below minus 5c though ,great vehicles these peugeots but i do like my ford transit
