Tip & How-To about Ferrari Enzo

Thinking outside the bun

The problem with a lot of people is that they only see what there are working on as brand or make, car or bike. The oil in your bike has no idea what kind of bike or lawn mower it's in. If you have the willing to learn you can put that same thinking on anything your working on. I know that this it's really a tip that will help you on a "BRAND" what it will help you with is everything you do in life. Lets take the blinders off and get to work, the only thing stopping you is your own mind.

Why is so ******* oil consumption?

Older motors do use more oil. The oil is leaking because the springs between the piston and the cylinder are a bit worn out. The cylinder and pistons also wear a bit. You could minimise the oil usage, when you let the motor give a revision. That will cost a lot. As long as you don't need to pour in more oil you should try to live with it. Don't buy expensive oil, because it can't become old in the motor.

what type of motor oil does a 2004 pontiac grand am

usually any name brand such as pennzoil, havoline, or such. just be sure to use the same kind of brand when you do oil change.
it is not good to mix oil because some have different chemicals in it and could cause to break down faster.
10w-40w is a good one for warmer areas.10w-30w is good for winter areas. the last number is the thickness of the oil. they do make thicker and thinner weights. id use like 20w-50w if the car smokes a lot.
make sure the oil has the api sticker on it. some brands are so cheap(like from dollar store-no mame brands), just wasting your money.
make sure also the it has the 10w in front of the other you get; 10w40w..etc
they do make some like just 30w or 40w.
check ads at parts store to get a good deal on oil..lots of places like autozone and such, usually can get lot cheaper than places like walmart or dealerships or such.might want to stock up when you see a good sale for when gas goes up ..so will oil.
10w-40w havoline or pennzoil i recommend for your car.

There really is no better brand of oil, If you change your oil regularly, you will never have to worry about your engine. If you don't, it doesn't matter if you spend $5000 a qt, it won't do a bit of good, so pick a brand, select a weight in your temperature range, 10/40 is pretty common, maybe 10/30 up north, and get in the habit of changing it every 4,000 miles. I use walmart oil, it is cheaper, but I go through it fast around here, 3 cars, 2 bikes, lawn mowers. Hope this helps.

bad oil loss but no oil leakage to see

It can be any of the following - and some more I don't know about:

1) Valve stem seals leaking, if you run against compression (eg. downhill) and then accellerates and it smokes, this is a possibility.

2) Piston Rings worn out - smokes all the time

3) PCV Valve shot - smokes all the time

4) Bad oil. NEVER MIX OILS!!!!! You can use any brand you like if it is correctly rated and tested, eg API SF/CC rated, BUT STICK TO THAT BRAND!!!! I won't recommend any specific brand- I use Shell in my car, Castrol in my truck and Mobil in my bike - so I'm not brand-specific. However, I keep to one specific oil (type and grade) per vehicle. My car has done 200000 + kilo's, my bike 145000, and my previous truck did 300000 till I sold it - all of them without any engine problems.

Go to another garage for a second opinion.
