Tip & How-To about Chevrolet Corvette

Tire rotation

If you rotate your tires when you change your oil your tires will last you a lot longer then ie you dont rotate them so a good rule of thumb is to rotate them every time you change your oil.

tires rotate and sounds like stone on tires/upon inspect [negative results]

Hi i would check the rotation of the tyres, (IE) TAKE the right hand rear wheel and put that on the left hand front, and do the same with the other one , also check that you have no flat spots on the tyres from hard breaking and the vehicle standing for a period of time can cause this to happen, also its not to hard to repack your bearings with grease, to see if that is the problem, and remember oil and grease are a lot cheaper than parts, good luck and safe driving

FRT END SHAKES AT ALL SPEEDS

If steering wheel shakes bad tire on front. If whole car shakes bad tire on rear. Or tires could be out of balance. If steering wheel shakes when brakes applied, front rotors are warped.

The owner's manual doesn't say what the suggested

A good rule of thumb is too change the oil every 1500 not necessary but 3000 is just to far down the road to change oil in a small car half that and the car will last alot longer with good care use castrol oil less of brake down in viscosity

hum from front drivers side wheel bearing changed

Two possible problems both related to that bearing change. 1. Was the bearing packed with grease before it was installed? If not, another new bearing is required properly packed with grease. They don't come packed when you by the bearing, only lubed.
2. Incorrect torque on wheel bearing bolt. If you do not have the specs. a good rule of thumb is with the nut just slightly tight and the wheel and tire installed but jacked up, spin the tire by hand and tighten the bolt to a point that the tire will not make 1 full revolution. JUST! ie. 355 degrees.

Good luck
