Put the key into ignition and turn it to RUN position. All dash lights will illuminate. Don't try to start the car. Leave the key in the ignition for about 5-10 minutes or until security light will stop flashing. The car should start after that. Security lock on the Pontiac disables the injectors, so the engine should crank. If it does not, you may want to check ignition switch, fuse and relay for the starter. Try to reset security first. Sometimes the magnet in the ignition lock cylinder gets dirty and needs cleaning. written by AlexGS
If the above procedure does not work the first time, try again, but right at the start insert key in and out of ignition several times to get good contact, as your key or ignition could be faulty.

Make sure the drivers front(left front) door is closed and you have your car keys. Insert your door key into the drivers door and turn it to the locked position two times. Then turn the key to the unlock position twice. The alarm should be disarmed, now.
SECOND TECHNIQUE: If not then take the ignition key and turn the ignition switch all the way ON then OFF then ON a second time and OFF again. These are the procedures for nearly all factory alarm systems. If neither of these works you probably have an after market(add-on) alarm system.
Warnings This technique is only for use on your own car that you own and have keys for. If you don't have the keys- disconnect the negative battery cable to stop the horn until you get your keys. Then reconnect the negative terminal and proceed to step one.
I couldn't turn off the security alarm on my 1999 Pathfinder as I replaced the battery, Solution: I read the solution here to disconnect the positive cable, open the driver's door, insert the key, then reconnected the positive cable, while honking, I turn the key to the left, to the right and to the left again while the door is still open. The honking stopped. Then I started the truck without a problem. Thank you for the hint.
