How to Replace a Starter in car?

The procedure is as follows:--
1)First of all turn off the car and disconnect the battery. Then lift the car with a jack . 2)Then place jack stands under the frame of the car. The rear wheels in the car should be blocked so the car donot roll or move backwards. 3)Then locate the starter in the car.Beside the starter you will see some wires.Remove the wires connected to it.Before removing the wires please not down the order in which the wires are actually connected. 4)To remove the starter out you will have to remove the bolts holding it. 5)After you remove the bolts you will have to Pull the starter out of its position to remove it from the car. 6)There are some others parts which will have to be removed before the starter comes out.so before removing that parts please take a note there where they parts exact connect in the car. 7) The old starter is out now.Put the new starter in the car by installing it the same way the old starter was removed. this will help.Good luck.

Starter Motor Replacement (LE5 2.4L and LAT-2.4L)

Removal Procedure

1. Disconnect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (With LAT-2.4L) ( See: Vehicle Lifting > Procedures > Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle) .

3. Disconnect the starter motor electrical connector (3).
4. Remove the starter solenoid BAT terminal nut (4).
5. Remove the battery positive cable terminal (1) and engine harness terminal (2) from the starter motor.

6. Remove the starter motor bolts.
7. Remove the starter motor from the vehicle.



Installation Procedure

1. Position the starter motor to the vehicle.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice ( See: Vehicle > Vehicle Damage Warnings > Fastener Notice) .


Important: Hand tighten all bolts before finalizing any torques.


2. Install the starter motor bolts.

Tighten the bolts to 43 N.m (32 lb ft).

3. Install the engine harness terminal (2) and the battery positive cable terminal (1) to the starter motor. Ensure that the battery positive cable terminal anti-rotation feature is aligned correctly.
4. Install the starter solenoid BAT terminal nut (4).

Tighten the nut to 15 N.m (11 lb ft).

5. Connect the starter motor electrical connector (3).

Removal Procedure
Caution: Before servicing any electrical component, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position and all electrical loads must be OFF, unless instructed otherwise in these procedures. If a tool or equipment could easily come in contact with a live exposed electrical terminal, also disconnect the negative battery cable. Failure to follow these precautions may cause personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
  2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.

  4. Remove the positive battery cable starter motor lead nut (1) from the starter.
  5. Remove the positive battery cable lead from the starter.
  6. Remove the starter solenoid terminal lead nut (2) from the starter.
  7. Remove the starter solenoid terminal lead from the starter.

  9. Remove the starter motor bolts (2, 3).
  10. Remove the starter motor (1).

2003 convertible top wont go down


Yes there is its for power interuption. This include battery disconnect or if some disconnect and chang battery you need to do this.(you may also have to do power window pinch protection procedure) 1.Turn ignition switch on.2. Cycle all windows (lower and lift) using the all window switch .the one at the drivers panel. (or the one with your key control using drver door lock) should now work.

does a starter come out the top of a 2000 infinity q45??? or the bottom????


bottom, but the manual mentions a couple different procedures. See below.

4.1L Engine
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions section.
  2. Remove or disconnect the following:

    Negative battery cable Steering gear and linkage assembly Harness connector Starter retainers Starter

To install:
Install or connect the following:

Starter Starter retainers. Tighten the starter retainers to 30-37 ft. lbs. (40-50 Nm). Harness connector Steering gear and linkage assembly Negative battery cable
Alternate procedure:

  1. Remove or disconnect the following:

    Negative battery cable Engine undercover Harness connectors Starter motor mounting bolt and nut
  2. Remove engine mounting insulator bottom nuts, and lift engine approximately 2 inches with a transmission jack
  3. Remove starter motor

To install:
  1. Installation is in reverse order of removal; observe torque values shown in diagram

Have Ford E350 Cutaway Diesel. Apparently batteries are dead. They are located under the vehicle, behind the driver side. How are these batteries changed?

ani_caut.gif WARNING: Batteries normally produce explosive gases which can cause personal injury. Therefore, do not allow flames, sparks or lighted substances to come near the battery. When charging or working near a battery, always shield your face and protect your eyes. Always provide ventilation. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury.
ani_caut.gif WARNING: Keep body from under the auxiliary or secondary battery when disconnecting or reconnecting the auxiliary battery safety straps since the battery weighs 50 pounds and bodily injury can result. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury.
  1. ani_caut.gif CAUTION: Failure to accurately follow the battery disconnect procedures described in this section may result in vehicle or component damage.
    NOTE: The preferred method of service requires the use of a floor hoist to lift the vehicle overhead, and a transmission jack to support and lower the auxiliary battery case.
    NOTE: The auxiliary battery can be charged while the auxiliary battery safety straps are connected to the vehicle. Follow the procedures up to and including disconnection of the auxiliary battery cables.
    Disable the vehicle electrical supply. For additional information, refer to Dual Battery Disconnect in this section.
  1. Remove the 2 auxiliary battery cable harness screws retaining the harness to the frame.

  1. Support the bottom of the auxiliary battery and case with a transmission jack.
  1. ani_caut.gif CAUTION: To prevent possible damage to the auxiliary battery case, cover the battery cables during the lowering process. It is recommended to loosen the auxiliary battery case cover bolts before lowering the battery box.
    Remove the auxiliary battery case from the frame.
    1. Remove the upper RH auxiliary case -to- frame bolt.
    1. Loosen, but do not remove, the 3 remaining battery case-to-frame bolts.
    1. Raise the battery case up and to the right to dislodge the battery case from the 3 remaining bolts.

  1. Lower the auxiliary battery and case until tension is present on the safety straps.

  1. Remove the 2 bolts and disengage the battery case cover.

  1. Remove the 2 auxiliary battery case safety strap to frame bolts.

  1. Remove the hold-down wedge.
  1. ani_caut.gif WARNING: When lifting a battery, excessive pressure on the end walls could cause acid to spew through the vent caps, resulting in personal injury. Lift with a battery carrier or with your hands on opposite corners. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury.
    Support the battery and case with a transmission jack. Disengage the safety straps and roll the auxiliary battery and case on the transmission jack away from the vehicle.
