Tip & How-To about Chevrolet 1500

Vehicle wont start after filling with gas

Fuel pumps are common to fail when filled with gas. Most of the time when fuel tank is low and very hot. The hot pump is shocked by the cold fuel and causes the vains in the fuel pump to fail and sieze to the inner pump workings. Using a rubber hammer hit the center of the fuel tank a few times while someone turns the key. Most of the time it works. Replacement of the pump will probally be needed.

Cruze hard to start after fueling up help!

The most common cause of this is a failing in tank electric fuel pump, you ask why? Well the gas from the in ground tanks at the filling station is very cold, this drastically change the temprature of the pump, that causes the fuel pump to slow down or not start running, it is what is referred to as "Thermal Shock"

changing the fuel pump

You need to drop the fuel tank unplug the fuel lines and wiring harness hope it's not too full of gas ..Did u know the number 1 cause of fuel pump failure is running your car or truck low on fuel all the time here's why fuel pumps are cooled by the gasoline in the tank have you ever spilled gas on your hand it's cold isn't it this is how the pump is cooled so if a car is constantly less than 1/4 tank the pump is not cooling therefore it's getting hot and overtime blam it will fail or fail slowly common problems like hard starting wich now leads to over cranking the starter and then that fails or of course your batt and possibly your alternator so rule of thumb keep atleast 1/2 tank Wala problem solved fuel pump is submersed cool and happy and so is your wallet regards Chris

Is the gas tank above 1/2 tank now?

A worn / aged fuel pump will fail when it's hot and the fuel level is low (example: below 1/4)

Park your car in a cool area.

Start the car when it's cold outside,

start problem

Unfortunately most likely your fuel pump is going out. Tahoes are notorious for the fuel pumps going bad. One word of advice spend the extra money on a GM fuel pump and don't go with aftermarket because the labor is quite expensive and if the new pump goes out in six months you are out all the labor again.
