1997 CADILLAC ELDORATO HTR MOTOR REPLACMENT

ON A 97 CADILLAC ELDORADO WHEN REPLACING THE HTR FAN MOTOR REINSTALL WITH SHORT SHEET METAL SCREWS INSTEAD OF THE ORIGINAL BOLTS. THESE ARE ALSO RECOMENDED BY THE CADILLAC PARTS SUPPLIERS. P.S. THESE MOTORS ARE AVAIL FOR UNDER $50 IF YOU SHOP THE INTERNET. THE MOTOR CAN BE REMOVED BY CAREFULLY CUTING AWAY A SMALL SECTION OFTHE MOUNT. WHICH THEN CAN BE RE INSTALLED WITH SHORT SHEET METAL SCREWS AND EXTERNALLY RE COATED WITH THE PROPER BLACK PERMANTEX. THIS ENABLES HTR MTR REPLACEMENT WITHOUT HAVING TO REMOVE THE ENGINE AND WILL SAVE YOU APPROXIMATELY $1000.

heater blower motor on 1996 cadillac eldorado

very tight but you can clear the engine just moving some spark plug wires and the vacuum controls (controlled units?) right in front of it. when you get the bolts off the blower fan housing and its free to move you just have to rotate it so the flat part can clear the rear valve cover. do yourself a favor and be sure to isolate the problem to the motor (and not the electrical connections or the computer disabling it for something rediculous like lack of a/c charge) as it's an expensive part for a little motor and worse (around 250 i think) if you need end up replacing the entire fan.
