Tip & How-To about Daewoo Lanos

Daewoo engine oil pumps

Now the daewoo engine is a re engineered copy of the opel europe engine as used in the corsa and astra .Now in the original opel engine the oil pump drive is six sided and 1cm wide and will last the life of the engine ,but in the daewoo the drive is about 2mm wide and is just a circle with one flat ,now if the oil isnt changed on a regular the oil get full of the effects of combustion and goes thick and horrible when cold ,this puts a strain on the pumps drive but as oil warms up it becomes very thin .Now what happens if vehicle hasnt had an oil change for a few years ?' and the fresh oil hold its viscosity then 20 miles down the road the customer rings up complaining, well the pump drive rounds off resulting in no oil pressure and then the oil light comes on ,10 seconds and the big ends are shot ,Recomendation is to change the oil every 6000miles and oil filter every thrid oil change ,use the cheapest oil available i prefer a diesel detergent type oil but anything is better than no oil change, forget these so called long life oils and just change it on a regular basis.

what causes heavy fuel usage on opel corsa light

common is air filter, spark plugs-failing dispack. and incorrect time setup. sometimes it can even be the ecu. as the ecu learns to cope with engine info and can adjust its own setting. using an ob2 devise you can reset them back to original settings, but its best to do a full service before doing this i e oil change spark plugs and air filter and fuel filter timing belt or chain depending on engine and water pump and replace belts. depending on the age of the engine it can improve mph by around 25% on old engines and upto 50% on newer engines.also if you have a/c on your engine this can use a lot of engine power, if the pump is faulty and not disengaged this will use more fuel. to check this take of the belt and turn by hand on the pump if its free and moves easy then its disengaged if its hard to move or makes a sound as turning its faulty and needs replacing.

What is the oil capacity of an Opel Corsa 1.7 DTI utility manual gearbox and what grade oil should be used

As a standard, any front wheel drive car uses ATF lubricant or better known as Automatic Transmission Fluid to lubricate it's gearbox, you can recognise it by its colour witch is deep red, an opel/vauxhall corsa/astra 1.7d/1.7di/1.7dti/1.7cdti uses ATF II, not a easy trans to fill, suggest you let a dealer do this service
