Tip & How-To about Nissan Sentra

To check if your car alternator is working remove the poles of your car battery while the car engine is running.
If the care cuts off the alternator is not working properly.
this works with most cars

03 Galant engine dies after a few miles after lights and radio are turned on

I would say the first answer is correct but you should also check for corrosion on battery terminals, simply take poles off sandpaper battery and connection and if you can use a battery temporarily replace it and see if problem goes away. Could be battery itself is not charging to proper volt/amps.

VW Passat estate Diesel 2.0 TDI 2007. Car has intermittent electrical Fault after 10 minutes driving on road the dash board power cuts out and engine stops, dash board only has led clock and mileage visible, and the ignition does not work for approx 2 minutes then power returns again and the igintion works allowing the engine to start again and the car runs for another 10 mins and cuts out again?? Fault is very strange and is dangerous driving as the car will run for 2 days without any problems then it fails again. Please Help with root cause and suggested solution. Thanks, Alex.

check battery cables make sure they are clean and tight and make sure the alternator charging battery. first check battery volts. should be 12.6 volts. with engine running alternator out put at battery should be 13.5 - 14.5 volts. if not either alternator failed.check alternator power feed wires and voltage regulator wires for damage or make sure electrical wires has tight connection.check alternator battery.first turn off radio before before disconnecting negative battery cable.

suddenly cut off after lossing electrical power on all inside lights and gauges. also has low charge. is it the alternator or battery? also the o2 wire is disconnect

there may be a short on the battery (most likely) yet you can get it checked for free at any local (national chain) auto parts store they will check both at no charge to you and offer replacements remanufactured alternators usually they have in stock.

I have a 2002 Mitsubishi Lancer ES....my ac has not been working for a while...but now after I recently replaced an alternator...two batteries have been ruined....eletrical checks of the alternator turn out ok. what could be damaging the batteries?

Run the car, then disconnect the negative pole on the battery, then the positive pole.

If the car keeps running then your new alternator is working properly.

If your car stops then your new alternator is bad.

Check the battery for a defective cell.. You should replace the battery
to check
remove all the top up caps from the battery
start the vehicle and look for fumes rising from the cell

also check the electrolyte in the battery making sure alll the cells are covered.

the alternator is charging.
to test this start the vehicle and remove the positive battery pole, the car should remaing running, if it cuts off your alternator isnt charging,
