Engine will not rotate when attempting to start

The reason could be any of these:

  1. Battery terminal connections loose or corroded.
  2. Battery discharged or faulty.
  3. Broken, disconnected or loose wiring in the starting circuit.
  4. Automatic gear shift no in Parking position.
  5. Starter motor pinion jammed in flywheel ring gear.
  6. starter solenoid faulty.
  7. Starter motor faulty.
  8. Starter pinion or flywheel teeth worn or broken.
  9. Ignition switch faulty.
  10. Defective fusible link.
If you car is not starting, just check on any of these steps and hopefully you'll get that car started!

The battery terminal connections is loose or corroded.
Battery faulty or discharged, if the cable are clean and tight on the battery turn the key to the ON position and switch the headlights or windshield wipers. If they won't run then the battery is discharged.
Broken, loose or disconnected wires in the starting circuit.

Sound like your engine will not rotate when attempting to start, the battery terminal connections is loose or corroded.
Battery faulty or discharged, if the cable are clean and tight on the battery turn the key to the ON position and switch the headlights or windshield wipers.
If they won't run then the battery is discharged.
Broken, loose or disconnected wires in the starting circuit.
Starter motor pinion jammed in flywheel ring gear.
Starter solenoid faulty, Starter motor faulty, Ignition switch faulty.
Engine seized, try to turn the crankshaft with a large socket and breaker bar on the pulley bolt.

battery terminal connections looseor corroded.Check the cable terminals at the battery.Tighten the cable and remove corrosion as necessary.Battery discharged or faulty.If the cable connections are clean and tight on the battery posts turn the key to the on position and switch on headlights and or windscreen wipers if they fail to function the battery is discharged.Automatic transmission not properly engaged in park or neutral or clutch pedal not completely depressed.Broken loose or disconnected wiring in the starting circuit, inspect all wiring in the starter solenoid and ignition switch.Starter motor pinion jammed in fly wheel ring gear, if manual place ransmission in gear and rock the vehicle to manually turn the engine.Remove the starter and inspect the pinion and fly wheel at earliest convenience.

2000 dodge 4 dr neon,will not start. all lights are coming on. Lights go off leaving oil light on only. Oil is low but not that low.

Broken or stripped timing belt
Ignition components damp or damaged
Worn, faulty or incorrectly gapped spark plugs

Defective crankshaft sensor or pcm

my 97 saturn sl trys to start but wont it is geting gas, and spark but its seems to try to start and then stop and just crank over and over again


Could be one or more of many grips.
1. Fuel tank empty.
2. Battery discharged.
3. Battery terminal connections loose or corroded.
4. Leaking fuel injectior(s), faulty fuel pump, pressure regulator, etc.
5. Fuel not reaching fuel rail or TBI unit.
6. Ignition components damp or damaged.
7. Worn faulty or incorrectly gapped spark plugs.
8. Broken, loose or disconnected wiring in the starting circut.
9. Broken, loose or disconnected wires at the ignition coil or faulty coil. 10. Broken timing Chain.
11. Engine coolant temperature sensor defective.
12. Crankshaft postition sensor defective.
