Tip & How-To about Chevrolet Avalanche

EXTEND THE LIFE OF YOUR VEHICLE

THIS MIGHT SEEM LIKE A NO BRAINER BUT ACTUALLY FOLLOWING THE SUGGESTIONS IN YOUR OWNERS MANUAL AND GOING BEYOND THAT CAN SIGNIFICANTLY EXTEND THE LIFE OF YOUR VEHICLE. THE OLD SAYING "THEY DON'T MAKE CARS LIKE THEY USED TO" IS TRUE AND I SAY THANK GOD THEY DON'T. TODAY;S CARS ARE FAR BETTER, SAFER, HAVE MORE POWER, USE LESS FUEL ETC. HOWEVER THEY'RE MORE EXPENSIVE TO REPAIR, WHO EVER HEARD OF CHANGING BRAKE FLUID AND POWER STEERING FLUID. BELIEVE ME, FLUSH YOUR BRAKE, POWER STEERING, TRANSMISSION, COOLANT, TRANFER CASE, REAR AXLE FLUIDS AND YOU'LE REALIZE THE BENEFITS, BUT YOU HAVE TO DO IT WHEN THE VEHICLE IS STILL YOUNG!

oil change signal still on after oil changed

To reset the oil monitoring system to 100% after each oil change
[approximately 8 000 km (5 000 miles) or 180 days] perform the
following:
1. Press the SETUP control to
access the System Check function
2. Press and release the RESET
control to display “OIL LIFE XX%
HOLD RESET NEW”.
3. Press and hold the RESET
control for 2 seconds to display “IF
NEW OIL HOLD RESET”.
4. Press and hold the RESET
control to display “OIL LIFE SET
TO 100%”. Your oil life is now reset.

This procedure is on pages 69-70 of your owners manual, this is copied and pasted from that manual

how do you change the headlights on a 2004 sebring

Do you have the owners manual for the car? It should show you in there how to get at the bulb. If it's a Halogen style bulb, be careful not to touch the glass part of the new bulb. The oil from your skin gets on the glass and significantly shortens the life of the bulb. Use gloves, or better yet just handle the bulb by the base.

i tried to reset the oil change light it will not

With my 2007 XL-7, it would reset like the manual said until 30,000 miles. Today I took it to a repair shop to have the oil changed. They wrote the following instructions that reset mine today. 1. Press information button until 'oil life' is displayed. 2. Tap check mark two times and hold it on the third tap. Good luck!!

What do you mean? changing the oil life. You change your oil by removing the plug on the bottom of the engine, let it all come out, drain.Replace the plug, then refill through the top of the engine.Fill with the right amount of fluid.
