Tip & How-To about Toyota Camry

Frozen fuel lines this winter, "dry gas time" but chose right!

This is now the season when you really need to keep your fuel tank at least half full all the time. The weight of the gallons of gas in the tank will give your car more weight on snowy and ice roads. But you need to add some dry gas to your tank too.But don't just buy the cheap stuff you see in Walmarts or Kmarts.

You need to check the ingredients on the back of the label. Most cheap dry gas is nothing more than an easy dollar for the guy selling it.

And on the back it will list this wonder additive called "mineral water".
You need to stay far away from this stuff,If you picture a clear gas line,
with ice at one end,gas in the middle, and Mineral water at the other end, Now you have two problems going on in the fuel line and none are moving!

You need to see this ingredient on the back "isopropyl alcohol". This is the only one that will break down water molecules and burn them. Now if you you are in a pinch and don't have any but your line is frozen, Just go to you medicine cabinet and find that rubbing alcohol bottle,Because it is isopropyl alcohol! Just remember no more than 8oz to a full tank.

Plus this will increase the octane of the fuel in your tank.

Thanks for using Fixya!

Town and Country Van running out of gas and guage says half a tank what could be the problem?

If your fuel gauge is showing you in accurate readings this is normal to all vehicles that are not used to fill-up gas full regularly but sometimes the cause of the inacuracy is due to faulty float valve in the gas tank you need to replace it

I have fuel in gas tank-after shutting off will not start unless I put gas into fuel tank. Is it a fuel filter issue. or?

Just a question. Do you run your car on empty. If so that could be your problem with an empty tank you are sucking all the dirt through the filter and making it plug up. It is better to keep your tank above half full and does not cost any more than to run on empty. All mechanics will tell you to always keep your tank above half full.
