Tip & How-To about Chevrolet Blazer

Changing spark plugs in 95 and up blazers.

If you own a blazer from 95 or up, which is the newer body style, you will find when you go to change the spark plugs, you will not be able to reach one pesky plug that is blocked by the steering column.

Here is how to get it out.

  1. take a socket that fits only over the porcelain closely and a wrench that has a closed end side that will slide over the socket out side.
  2. Put the socket over the plug end, and using the wrench, put the closed end over it and use it for leverage to break the porcelain off.
Now you will be able to fit a regular size socket over the plug to remove it.

When you go to put the new one in, put it in and hand tighten as much as you can, then us an open ended wrench to tighten it.

i have a 95 chevy blazer with the 4.3 .i have tested and have spark entering the distributor but no spark leaving the distributor to plugs .have put new crank sensor ,cam pos sensor ,coil, plugs, wires, rotor&cap, and yes the timing was set correctly, this thing has me and two other good mechanics baffled.can anyone help?

That is indeed odd. I would suspect problems with the hi tension cables if this was not part of the ones you changed since the flow of current ends at the distributor. Check also other cables such as the ground. It is puzzling that all plugs would not have any spark. I would also recommend a scanner used to check for error codes given out by the car's ECU.

My 1998 Chevy Blazer crank excessively when I try to start it. It always starts, and runs good when I get it started, but I would really like a smooth start. I have recently changed the fuel filter, spark plugs, battery and air filter. Any ideas?

leaky injector/s is flooding motor, mechanically clean or replace. And clean throttle body while you are at it with spray cleaner. Should be almost spotless where large throttle valve opens and closes.

HOW do I reach spark plugs to change them

you can get most of them from the top but some have to be replaced through the wheel well, you will need a wobbly(universal) spark plug socket
