Tip & How-To about Ford Explorer

Engine Coolant Strength

Hello Everybody!!!
Guess what? Yup....It's wintertime again!! Time to start winterizing your vehicle.Have you checked one of the most important fluids in your engine? The antifreeze in your motor needs to be mixed properly and up to par in the coolant reservoir and radiator both.A simple five minute test can save you a lot of money and give you a lot of reassurance also.Your local autoparts store carries antifreeze test bulbs that you use to test the strength of your antifreeze with.Get those levels up and/or flushed.Happy Holidays, and Happy Motoring!!!!

Where is the plug on the torque convertor on 99 montero sport

Hello Darla Scroggins,

I think... (no where)...
They quit putting in PRODUCTION torque converter plugs when I was young... (awfully long time ago)... Very telling that you know about them.

Two choices...
Drill one... have faith in xmission filters, drilling skill and plug/balance weight (I don't recommend).

Change the fluid... run it... change the fluid again...

'Cuz you know while the fluid is VERY important... the seals and clutches are MORE important.

You know!

Working on a 99 isuzu vehicross. It has reverse buy when I put it in drive it sounds like Trans is turning but won't move forward. When I put drivetrane in winter mode it will move and shift through the gears. When I come to a stop I have to start over again with pressing winter mode botton

lots of Rodeo parts on car. and this.
The vehicle also features the Torque on Demand (TOD) 4-wheel-drive system produced by BorgWarner.

seem like you need to find a TOD and 4speed expert.
why not scan the PCM to see all those transmission errors.????
check fuses first.
yah, yah , nobody scans here. just guess.

when I start driving, the engine revs high and barely goes anywhere. it goes slowly up till 25mph and then is fine. It just started today

I believe '02 rodeo's have buttons for power mode and winter mode located between the shifter and the flip up console. You may have accidentally activated winter mode which cuts power to the drive wheels for driving in ice and snow.If so look on the instrument cluster and "winter mode" will be lit in green, simply push the button again to deactivate it while in PARK.Hope this helps ,good luck.

transmission problem

Sounds like an issue when fluid gets hot, I'd start with a filter/fluid change.

I personally shy away from tranny additives, use only as a last resort to get a vehicle drivable to trade in (on a cash for clunkers program. (((SMILE))). )
