Tip & How-To about Chevrolet 1500

Lube your key locks, with a lube that stays.

Most people use graphite to lube the key locks,on cars and trucks house doors, and such, and this is good. The only problem is ,the smoothness of the lock turning ,wears out,the difficulty returns. That is because this is a dry graphite.Purchase wet graphite spray, and stick the straw on the can in the key hole of the lock, and spray the heck out of it.This will ensure lasting lubrication for a good long while. This also works great on ignition keys.

Passenger side front door will not open with a key. It will open will the power door lock button. I have tried WD 40 to no avail. Can you help me?

first try lock lube. wd40 doesnt have graphite in it. if it turns and desnt turn the lock cylinder is bad if it just doest turn at all after you get the graphite lube its seized and needs replacing. if it turns and you feel no resistance the rod inside the door may have fell off

the ignition locks up and i cant turn the key to start the car

the lock tumbler pins may be sticking, buy some powdered Graphite lock cylinder lube from a hardware store, use only this special dry lube, any other type of oil based lube will ruin the ignition lock, spray the powdered graphite into the lock cylinder and insert the key and try to work the lock, do this several times and spray the powder in at least twice, if this doesn't free up the lock cylinder then you will need to have the ignition lock cylinder replaced.
