Tip & How-To about 2005 Chevrolet Tahoe
When the airbag dash indicator is lighted there is a problem with the airbag system and it is inoperative until repaired. There can be other problems but the front impact sensors typically fail and can be easily replaced. Go to O'Reilly auto parts store for free diagnosis. For the 2005-2006 Tahoe, code B0100 is driver side impact sensor and B0103 is passenger side. You can purchase there for $90.00 or save $30.00 by ordering from Amazon or eBay, just make sure to get Dorman part 590-200. To install: use an 8mm box wrench to pull the battery negative cable, turn the headlight switch on, and for good measure wait 30 minutes, just to make sure the airbag controller is dead. Go under front of vehicle and use a 15 mm socket to remove the 4 bolts for the plastic skid plate. Locate the sensor on either side at bumper level and use a 10mm box wrench to loosen the single bolt on the sensor. Once the sensor is loose pull the orange plastic lock out of the connector clip, then pry/pull the connector out of the sensor. Install in reverse order. Once finished stand to side of steering wheel and turn ignition key on. Airbag light will flash then clear. Youtube has video to make it even easier. Older and newer Tahoes may have different sensor codes and part numbers so verify for your model.
