Tip & How-To about Mazda B2300

Truck will not start

Symptoms: The engine cranks, but will not start.
Possible causes:No fuel, no ignition.

Usually, when you have no fuel, the remedy is bad fuel pump..replace it. I noticed that when I turned on the ignition switch, I did not hear the usual BUZZ of the fuel pump initializing. I did not want to remove the fuel tank and go through that mess at this time. So, I traced the fuel pump circuit (Chilton's manual) and discovered that there is a crash disconnect relay..which was ok, and a fuel pump relay. It is located in the engine compartment driver's side in a black long fuse box. A volt meter read power coming to the relay. I replaced the relay..$12.00 and the engine started up immediately. This also fixed my fuel gauge..it never read correctly when I filled up. Now it is functioning properly.
Bottom line: check the easy things first before dropping the gas tank.

I have a 96 maxima that all it does is just crank. Could you tell me what the problem might be

A no start condition is usually the result of the engine not getting a fuel supply or spark supply. Possible a fuel delivery issue.. fuel pump/fuel filter/relay/wiring. Possible ignition problem.. crank sensor/computor/wiring just to name a few causes. There are many more possibilities that can contribute to a no start but these are the most common

no start cranks well

Won't Start Symptoms
Your car may not start for a number of reasons. The following list outlines the most common circumstances and tells you what action you can take to try to remedy each situation:

  • The car cranks over but won't start. Check the fuel supply to your engine. If that's okay, check whether the electrical spark is getting to your spark plugs.
  • The car makes a clicking noise but won't start. This sound usually means a dead battery. If not, check the wiring to and from the starter for a loose connection.
  • The engine starts but dies. If your car has a carburetor, check your carburetor adjustment and your choke to see whether the choke is first closing and then opening. If you have fuel injection, you'll need professional help.
  • The car is silent when you turn the key in the ignition. Check the battery terminal cable connections. If they look very corroded, force the point of a screwdriver (with an insulated or wooden handle) between the connector and the terminal post and twist it to lodge it firmly. Then try to start the engine. If it starts, you need to clean or replace your cables.
If this doesn't work either, then it's time to take it to a mechanic.

Car wnt start

Will the engine crank when you turn the key?
Did you leave the lights on, dome light on or other electric item on while the car was setting?
If the engine will not crank then you have left something on or you have a battery or starting system problem.
If the engine ranks but will not start, then you have a fuel or ignition problem.

my nissan sentra 1.8l it cranks but will not start' after scanning there were no fault code .please help me to solve the problem thank you.

Pull off one of the plug wires and put a screwdriver in it, crank the engine and see if it is getting a spark. If so, pull off one of the fuel lines feeding the engine and check fuel pressure. If you are not getting fire, possible causes are: crankshaft sensor, ignition module, other causes I could determine after these are checked. Try to check these and if you need further help, I will help you as much as I can. If you are getting spark, and fuel, the main cause would be timing. Hope this helps

car wont start

IIf doesn't crank then problem with neutral safety switch, starter solenoid, starter or ignition switch. If cranks then could be bad crankshaft sensor, bad ignition coil pack, blown injector(s) but usually you will get a stall beforehand. Fuel pump could be dead, turn key to ON (not starting) and listen for a few second hum as it primes the fuel rail. Also check to see if check engine light comes on for a few second with key to ON, if not then not powering up due to shirt or bad. Possible but rarely the fuel filter is so clogged it no longer allows fuel, but usually will allow start after sitting.
