one I have a 2008 Ford Escape with almost 56k miles on it (not my doing for the most part). I live in South Georgia, and while it does not get super cold here, on days when it gets in the low 40s or so my gas pedal sticks. It's only for the first couple times I push it, the number of times depends on how cold it is. It sticks as in it is hard to push not I push it and it stays down. It takes off and jerks me and whoever is in the vehicle. How do I solve this?

It may be as simple as cleaning the throttle plate with some carb spray. With the engine off and preferable with the engine cold remove the air snorkel from the throttle body. Open the throttle body and see if the throttle plate has a lot of carbon build up. If it does spray it with carb spray until clean. It sometimes helps to wipe it down with some rags and then repeat until the throttle plate and throttle body are clean.

I was told by my Ford Service Department that my Intake and Throttle Body needs cleaning...How can I do that?

Disconnect the accelerator cable from the throttle body as well as the electrical connectors for the throttle position sensor and the idle speed control solenoid then disconnect the plastic air intake duct, remove the four bolts securing the throttle body assembly to the intake manifold and remove it.
Clean it out using an old toothbrush and a can of throttlebody and air intake cleaner , then reinstall it by reversing the steps above.
