how to remove battery

Make sure key is off. Remove battery negative terminal, then the positive terminal. Now remove battery holder-some have a hold-down bolt near the bottom of battery, or clamps to remove. Take old battery out and replace with new, and secure the holding fixture. Attach positive terminal first, and last the negative terminal. Make sure cable ends are clean-use a battery post cleaner tool to get the posts and cable ends as clean as possible.

Make sure the battery terminals are tight. These cars have a double stacked positive side terminal that, to get tight enough, usually means stripping the threads on the battery. After fighting with this connection for more than a year, I finally put an old fashioned post adapter on the positive threaded side terminal, then put another 'marine' adapter on the post. After stripping the rubber insulation off the two positive wire's terminals, they'll stack up on the marine post and wing nut them good and tight.
