Tip & How-To about Cars & Trucks

Key fobs and keys and anti-theft device

DO NOT LOSE YOUR KEYFOB OR YOUR KEY,ALL NEWER CARS HAVE AN ANTI THEFT DEVICE THAT SHUTS DOWN THE CAR IF SOMEONE TRIES TO HOTWIRE IT OR USE THE WRONG KEY,ONLY A DEALER CAN MAKE NEW ONES AND IT IS EXPENSIVE,IF YOU GET A COPY MADE FROM THE ORIGINAL,IT IS REALLY CHEAP,ALWAYS HAVE AN EXTRA SET OF KEYS AND KEY FOBS!!!!
IF YOU GO ON VACATION TO{THE GRAND CANYON} AND LOSE YOUR KEYS,YOU ARE OUT OF LUCK!!

MY CHRYSLER CONCORDE STARTS AND RUNS A MINUTE THEN SHUTS DOWN EVERY TIME YOU START IT IT SHUTS DOWN I PURCHASED ANEW BATTERY IT DOES THE SAME THING

IF the car turns over and then starts, the battery is not the problem. Did you recently get a new car key made? If you have a key with a code in it, the dealer will have to reload/program this code specific to your vehicle. This is of course for security. If someone tries to hotwire your car, then it will start but is designed to shut off in around a minute...

How to reset the anti theft swith and Where is it

Some possible solutions that might help: 1. I'm not sure if this model comes with a Master Ignition key (which is usually a different colour fob or shape). If it does, then try starting the car with the Master key, it should override and reset the antitheft system and allow the car to start. 2. The Alarm keyfob (if it has one) battery may need replacing. 3. There may be an override key operated switch on the alarm itself or secreted away somewhere inside the car, which you can use to activate/deactivate the antitheft device? 4. You may have to key a code number onto a set of buttons on the dashboard to reset the Antitheft device? 5. Do you have the User Manual for the vehicle. There should be some explanation in there about what precautions to take when replacing the vehicle battery, and how to reset the anti theft device so that the engine can be started again
